It was a quite weekend on the Junior front with progress made in the various cup competitions and the outstanding league fixtures were also played to bring those competitions up todate.

Sunday’s Well have moved into the top four of Division One of the Munster Junior League after their 24-14 home win over Skibbereen. Playing with the elements in the opening half, the ‘Well raced into a 21-0 lead with tries from Damian Kozik, Alex Guerin and Jacob Lane. All three were converted by Jazz Pendijito, who also added a penalty after the break. James Williams replied with two tries for Skibb’ and David Shannon converted both.

St. Mary’s lost a chance of moving into the top four as they lost away to Richmond in the Limerick derby 24-15. Graham Kirwin, Ryan Meagher, Tom McMahon and Darragh Joyce scored tries for Richmond and Shane Purcell converted two of them. Paul Curtis and Devlin Price were the Saints scorers and Adam Guerin added a conversion and a penalty.

Tralee kept their promotion challenge alive in Division Three after their 22-17 away win against Bantry Bay. Robbie O’Neill, Alaistair Hoban and Fionn de Quadros scored tries for Tralee and Stephen Turner kicked two conversions and a penalty. This game also doubled up as a Martin O’Sullivan Cup game.

In the Junior Clubs Challenge Cup, Bandon booked their semi-final place after a 45-13 home win against Kanturk. Padraig Galvin scored two of Bandon’s six tries, and Johan Van der Westhuizen, Rhys Hughes and Olan Crowley also got over the white wash, along with a penalty try. Daniel Coughlan kicked four conversions, and a penalty and Zack Canniffe added one conversion. Neil Twomey replied with a try for Kanturk and Matt Hooten converted both and also added a penalty.

Ballincollig advanced to the semi-finals of the Junior Clubs Challenge Shield after a surprising 27-12 away win at Youghal. Jamie O’Keeffe and Diarmuid Phelan scored tries for Ballincollig, who were also awarded a penalty try. Phelan kicked two conversions and two penalties. Oisin O’Dwyer and Darragh Coleman replied with tries for Youghal. Nathan O’Halloran kicked one conversion.

Kinsale advanced with a 39-14 home win against Charleville. Cillian Fitzpatrick, Sean Kingston, David Looney, Conall Gillaeran, Evan Lehane and Tom Good scored tries for Kinsale. Dylan Lacy kicked tree conversions and a penalty. Jack Buckley and Kaden O’Neill scored tries for Charleville and Kian Smith converted both.

Killarney reached the semi-finals of the Martin O’Sullivan Cup with a 56-22 home win against Scariff. Tomas Clifford and Diarmuid Carr scored three tries each for the winners, and Paul O’Sullivan and Matt McAuliffe got one each. Ciarán O’Brien kicked five conversions and a penalty, and Harry Kelly added a penalty. Sean Tracey replied with three tries for Scariff and David Harte got one. Alex Boblea kicked three conversions.

Waterford City booked their place with a 22-17 home win against Dungarvan. NJ Carlson, Darren Kennedy and Darren Coady were the Waterford try scorers and Mikey O’Connor kicked two conversions and a penalty.
