Provincial Roundup

Leaders have emerged across all three Divisions of the Munster Junior League, following the latest round of games.

The meeting of the top two sides in Division 1 produced a thriller as Kilfeacle and Sunday’s Well shared the spoils at Morrissey Park in a game that finished 20-20. The game produced one red card and three yellows as the game finished in a welter of excitement. Playing with elements in the opening half, the ‘Well took an early lead with a try by Emeka Asiegbu. Luke Heuston kicked a penalty for the home side before Fabien Loughery scored the ‘Well’s second try to give them a 10-3 interval lead. A try from Bob Purcell converted by Heuston levelled maters minutes into the second half. Heuston put Kilfeacle 13-10 ahead with a penalty before entering the final minutes it was Kilfeacle who were reduced to 13, following two yellow cards. Tries from Asiegbu and Rece Mintern saw the visitors take the lead, but a try and conversion by Heuston tied up the scores.

Clonakilty have moved into second place a point behind the ‘Well after their 39-20 home win against Newcastle West. Tobi Oliver scored two tries for Clon’ and Rory White, Ben Lovell, Matt Foster, Conor Hayes and Niall Barrett got one each. Barrett kicked two conversions.

Mallow moved up to fourth place after their 24-19 bonus point away win at Clanwilliam. Sean O’Riordan, Dylan Walsh and Riley Harrison were the Mallow try scorers, who were also awarded a penalty try. Harrison converted one try.

Kanturk kept their title hopes alive with a 12-7 away win at Muskerry. Tries from James Moylan and Eanna O’Mahony and a Paul O’Keeffe conversion gave Kanturk a 12-0 half time lead. A try by Dan Galvin converted by Daniel Hallissey early in the second half secured Muskerry a losing bonus point.

Bandon defeated Old Christians 21-19 at Old Chapel. James Collins-O’Brien scored two tries for Bandon and Dan Lane one. All three were converted by Hugh O’Mahony. Ivan Tripp, Laz Rabatin and Conor Dolan replied with tries for Old Christians and John Marnell kicked two conversions.

St. Mary’s continued their good run with 15-11 away win at Skibbereen. Stephen Hayes and Darragh Farragher were the Saints try scorers and Adam Guerin replied with a penalty and a conversion. Tom Beare replied with a try for Skibb’ and Will Canavan kicked two penalties.

Richmond eased their relegation worries with a 19-12 away win at Thurles. Shane Purcell, Osama Farag and Jordan Dillon scored tries for Richmond and Purcell added two conversions. James Maher replied with four penalties for Thurles.

Waterpark have opened up a two-point lead at the top of the Second Division, after their 32-24 away win at Cobh Pirates. Ritchie Morris, Evan Byrne, Dara Ó Grádaigh, Mark Hayes and Scott Nolan scored tries for Waterpark and Ben Daly kicked two conversions and a penalty. Jack Gilmartin, and Jack Worrall replied with tries for the Pirates and Mike White kicked four penalties and one conversion.

Crosshaven won their top of the table clash with unbeaten Kinsale 21-7. Harry O’Connell, Liam Cotter and Anthony Shehan were the Crosshaven try scorers, and all three tries were converted by Jack O’Connell. Darragh Mangan scored Kinsale’s try which Rob O’Flynn converted. This game doubled up as an O’Neill Cup semi-final also.

Ennis moved up to third place after their 42-14 home win against Abbeyfeale. Dale Watson, Calum Barrett, Ben Nenko, Cian Guilfoyle, Brendan Keane, Keelan Butler and Caoimhin Enright scored tries for the Clare side and Shane Punch kicked four conversions.

Charleville kept their promotion hopes on track with a 28-15 bonus point home win against Castleisland. Charlie Collins, Darragh Browne, Cathal Canning and Brian Forde scored tries for Charleville and Kian Smith converted all four. Adam Jensen and Joe Sheehy replied with tries for Castleisland and Sheehy added a conversion and a penalty.

St. Senan’s were surprisingly held to a 17-17 home draw against Fermoy. James Kennedy scored two tries for Senan’s and Jamie McNamara one, Declan Rowe added one conversion. Fermoy had tries Eoin Lacey and Dylan Foley, With Lacey converting both, and also adding a penalty.

Ballincollig defeated Fethard 38-22 in a game that also doubled up a a Junior Clubs Shield tie. Ballincollig will now travel to Youghal in the quarter final of the Shield on 7th December. Sean McLoughlin and Aaron Hurley each scored two tries for Ballincollig, with Diarmuid Phelan and Pierre Raynaud getting one apiece. Adam Dodd kicked three conversions and Phelan one. Ritchie Anglim, Michael Lawrence, Eoin Fitzgerald and Will Ruttle replied with tries for Fethard and Paddy Gaynor kicked one conversion.

Killarney have opened up a three-point gap in the Third Division following their 39-24 point win at home to second placed Scariff. Matt McAulliffe and Diarmaid Carr each scored two tries for the winners and Tomás Clifford, Craig McKenzie Vass and Donnchadh Grealy got one each. Clifford kicked two conversions. Noel McGrath, Cian Foley and Martin Daly replied with tries for the Clare side. Alex Boblea kicked three conversions and a penalty.

Douglas are now second after their 17-7 away win at Waterford City. Zach Dinan scored two tries for Douglas and Patrick Carey converted both and also added a penalty. Peter Walsh was the home side’s try scorer and Mikey O’Connor converted.

Tralee had an impressive 48-12 away win at Galbally-Mitchelstown. Liam Gannon (3), Dylan Corcoran (2), Cathal Kearney, Ben Glavin, Robbie Murphy and Chris Lowe were the Tralee try scorers, and Stephen Turner added a penalty.

Killorglin picked up their first victory with a 14-12 home win against Dungarvan. Fionn O’Shea and Jamie O’Leary scored tries for Killorglin and O’Shea converted both. Alan McMahon and Daniel Slevin replied with tries for the visitors and David Hickey kicked a conversion.

Bantry Bay picked up their first point as they lost away to Corca Dhuibhne 12-11. Cian Cuffe scored two tries for the West Kerry Gaeltacht side and Harry Curran added a conversion. Shane O’Sullivan replied with a try and two penalties for Bantry.
