Excitement is rising across Munster, with school rugby teams gearing up for what promises to be another exhilarating season.

Last week saw captains from both the boys’ and girls’ cups convene at Christian Brothers College, Cork, for the official launch of the 2025/26 Pinergy Munster Schools Senior Cup competitions.

Pinergy proudly returns as title sponsor, marking their fifth year with the Boys Senior Cup and third with the Girls Senior Cup, celebrating once more the unified spirit of these pivotal youth tournaments.

Pinergy remains committed to fostering the growth and sustainability of the game for young athletes throughout the province. This year, Pinergy are proud to continue the ‘Own the Moment’ campaign, an initiative designed to inspire players, coaches, and supporters alike to seize every opportunity, both on and off the rugby pitch, and make a lasting impact.

With a rich history spanning over a century, the Munster Schools Boys Senior Cup has long been a bedrock of Munster Rugby, renowned for cultivating exceptional talent and igniting fierce rivalries. Pinergy is delighted to continue energising these leading competitions, actively contributing to a more sustainable and vibrant future for young rugby players and fans across the province.

Pinergy’s commitment extends beyond mere sponsorship; it’s a proactive investment in the sport’s long-term sustainability. This partnership is dedicated to ensuring continued growth and accessibility for young players across all corners of Munster, including burgeoning rugby areas such as Clare and West Cork, safeguarding the future of the game for generations to come.

Last year’s boys’ competition saw Christian Brothers College triumph over Presentation Brothers College, halting their bid for a remarkable three-in-a-row. This victory brought CBC’s total title count to an impressive 32, positioning them level with PBC in the all-time standings and setting the stage for another enthralling chapter in their storied rivalry. In the girls’ competition, Sacred Heart Clonakilty enters the tournament as defending champions, having secured victory against Coláiste Pobail Bheanntraí. Their sights are now firmly set on achieving an historic third consecutive title this season.

Speaking at today’s launch, CEO at Pinergy Enda Gunnell said: “Pinergy is deeply committed to nurturing the future of rugby in Munster, and our continued partnership with the Munster Schools Senior Cups perfectly embodies this vision.

“Our ‘Own the Moment’ philosophy extends beyond the field, encouraging young athletes to embrace opportunity and consider their role in creating a more sustainable future for the sport. The unified launch of both the boys’ and girls’ tournaments truly reflect our dedication to inclusivity and fostering comprehensive growth within Munster Rugby.

“We extend our warmest wishes to all participating schools for an exceptional season.”

Sean Loftus, President of Munster Rugby commented: “The Pinergy Munster Schools Senior Cups stand as one of the pinnacles of youth rugby in our province, offering a superb platform for emerging talent.

“Pinergy’s invaluable support is instrumental in bringing these prestigious tournaments to life, providing our young athletes with the stage to hone their skills, forge lasting friendships, and create indelible memories.

“The inclusion of both the boys’ and girls’ competitions are a testament to the dynamic growth of our sport, continually inspiring new generations of players. We eagerly await the start of the season and the exceptional rugby that is sure to unfold.”
