Presentation Brothers College are one step closer to winning a historic 33rd Pinergy Munster Schools Boys Senior Cup title as they held rivals Christian Brothers College scoreless in a packed Virgin Media Park in a game that saw a total of eight tries scored.
PBC were first to strike in the 7th minute as hooker Ronan Twomey peeled away from a rolling maul to drop down. Daniel Murphy added the extras.
The 2024 Champions were almost in for their second just five minutes later as Murphy sent a grubber kick through only for the ball to be knocked on over the line.
CBC were awarded the scrum but a miscommunication between the back row and the scrum-half resulted in the ball being turned over and PBC being awarded a scrum of their own.
The ball came cleanly out the channel for Frankie Óg Sheahan before he moved it swiftly through the backs allowing Murphy to snipe through two defenders before running in. The full back also converted the try.
PBC were in twice more before the end of the half as winger Bobby O’Callaghan intercepted a Christians ball not once, but twice, and went the length of the pitch.
Murphy added the extras to bring the score to 28-0 at half time.
It took Pres until the 45th minute to get back on the board after another CBC pass was intercepted by flanker Eddie Dooley who ran in from his own 22 metre line. Murphy lined up the touchline conversion sending it high and right of the posts.
PBC were in for try number six in the 55th minute as scrum half, Frankie Óg Sheahan grubber kicked and regathered his own ball before touching down. Murphy added the extras to bring the score to 40-0 with 15 minutes left to play.
PBC were reduced to 14 in the 55th minute as Tom Murray was sent to the bin for not retreating as CBC took a tap and go penalty.
CBC were next to see yellow as outside centre Christopher Taylor was sent off for a high tackle.
The 2024 winners were in again in the 66th minute as Olan Healy slipped through the CBC defence and ran over. Out-half David Nolan nailed the conversion bringing the score to 47-0 with just four minutes left on the clock.
With the clock in the red, PBC launched one final attack which saw centre, Alex Moloney, chip through and regather his own ball before sliding in over the line. Nolan converted sending the side through to the final for the fifth year in a row with a final score of 54-0.
