Presentation Brothers College lifted the Pinergy Munster Schools Boys Senior Cup trophy for a record 33rd time after an impressive performance against St. Munchin’s College at Virgin Media Park, which they won 51-3.

Pres’ are now top of the roll of honour’s list and what a season for this squad, as they also won the NextGen Global Schools Challenge Premier Rugby Series in Spain, before Christmas.

Some big hits by Munchin’s in the opening stages, halted the Pres’ backline from taking an early lead.

It was the Corbally side who opened the scoring with a penalty from Oisin Madden after six minutes.

That was as good as it got for the Limerick side, as from the restart, Pres won a lineout on the Munchin’s 22 and the pack drove over the line for Nathan MacCarty to touchdown and Daniel Murphy converted.

It was 12-3 after twelve minutes, following a scrum, Harry Galvin Carty found a gap and scored.

Pres’ continued to have the Limerick side pined back and out-half David Nolan out sprinted the defence to score.

Minutes later Alex Moloney found a gap to score his side’s fourth try and Murphy added the extras for a 24-3 lead.

A great back line move, saw Murphy touch down and he also converted to make it 31-3 at the interval.

Bobby O’Callaghan who was closely marked by the Munchin’s defence, eventually got his name on the scoresheet with a try, five minutes into the second half.

The windy conditions made things difficult for both sides, as Pres’ emptied the Bench, but O’Callaghan got his second try of the day on the hour mark.

Substitutes Bobby Waters and Dan O’Leary also added late tries as the celebrations began for the Mardyke contingent.

Scorers for PBC: Daniel Murphy try, 3 cons, Bobby O’Callaghan 2 tries, Nathan MacCarthy, Harry Galvin Carty, David Nolan, Alex Moloney, Bobby Waters, Dan O’Leary tries.
