The Munster Senior Women’s squad has been announced for this year’s Vodafone Women’s Interprovincial Championship.

Head Coach Matt Brown has announced a 34-player squad for the duration of the competition with 15 uncapped players included.

Returning to provincial action this season is Ireland international Maeve Óg O’Leary.

O’Leary returns to the side after an extended break due to a knee injury. Before her injury, Maeve Óg played a key part in the 2023 Interprovincial Championship before being selected to travel to Dubai to take part in the inaugural WXV tournament.

O’Leary also got the chance to line out against the Barbarians in the historic double-header held at Thomond Park in 2023.
Maeve Óg returned to her club Blackrock College RFC in March of this year earning herself the starting flanker position for the remainder of the season.

Elsewhere, Lyndsay Clarke is one of many players who will step up into the senior squad for the first time this year. Clarke is a well-known speedster on the pitch and has played a lot of age-grade representative rugby for both Munster and Ireland throughout the years.

Clarke, who recently turned 19, played adult rugby with Ennis/Kilrush and UL Bohemian last season and will line out for newly promoted Ennis RFC in the upcoming Women’s All Ireland League campaign.

A newcomer into the group this year is Ennis’ Micaela Glynn.

Hailing from the small village of Kilmihil in west Clare, Glynn only began playing rugby at the age of 15 with Kilrush RFC.

Fast forward to today, Micaela captained a historic Ennis/Kilrush side, in just it’s third year of existence, to new heights as they booked their spot in next season’s Womens All Ireland League.

Speaking about the selection this year, Head Coach Matt Brown said:

“I genuinely want to see how good this crop of younger girls can be. How well they can gel with the older girls and you know, we have put a bit of emphasis on the older girls really having a role within the squad that actually brings these girls along.

“You know the sky is the limit for them.”
