The Semi Finals of the Munster Schools Junior Cups kicked off this week with games in both the boys and girls competitions.

St. Munchin’s College 44 – 8 Bandon Grammar School
St. Munchin’s have booked their spot in the Munster Boys Schools Junior Cup Final as they defeated titleholders Bandon Grammar in Thomond Park.
The Limerick natives made their mark on the game early on as Jack Goode kicked them into a the lead with two penalties before the fifth minute.
Tries from Cian Angley, Caleb Crofton O’Riordan and Oscar Madden helped them to a 22 point lead going in at half time.
Bandon out-half Jos Keating kicked the only points for the West Cork dwellers in the first half to bring them score to 23-3 at the break.
Munchin’s showed their strength even further in the second half as Madden crashed over for his second followed by Tristan Eales and Jack Goode. Goode converted all three scores to bring the side close to the 50 point mark as full time approached.
Oscar Kinahan was the only try scorer for Bandon in the second half as he drove over in the closing stages of the game to bring the final score to 44-8.

Rockwell College 15 – 26 Christian Brothers College
Christian Brothers College have punched their ticket to the Munster Schools Junior Cup Final after an end-to-end battle with Tipperary rivals Rockwell College.
Rockwell laid down their stake early on when Jonty Purcell found touch. The Tipp natives won the line out and set a maul barreling for the try line as Fabian Shiel dotted down.
But CBC were quick to lodge a response as Jack Singleton ran in in the corner.
Luck swung back in favour of Rockwell as captain Jack Landy was next to touch down to bring the score to 10-5.
Both teams were then reduced to 14 men just 15 minutes into the game after a melee in the centre of the field.
CBC struck once more as Sean Riordan crossed the white wash and Jack O’Shea converted.
But by the half time whistle Rockwell had secured themselves a narrow lead through Ethan Kendrick who drove his way across the line to bring the score to 15-12.
CBC were the only side to score in the second half as Henry Hussey crashed over twice in the closing stages with O’Shea converting both scores to bring the final score to 15-26.
The Cork side will now face Limerick’s St. Munchin’s College, in a repeat of the cancelled 2020 final.

St Marys Mallow 5 – 45 Colaiste Pobail Bheanntrai
It was an all Cork pairing in the first of the Munster Schools Girls Junior Cup Semi Final as St. Marys Secondary School Mallow met West Cork’s Colaiste Pobail Bheanntrai on CBC’s all weather pitch.
The West Cork natives battled hard in the first half, with scores from Grace Keane (2), Zoe Hicks and Grace Cronin, to give the side a 24 point lead at the break.
But Mallow bit back early on in the second half as Ailís Kelleher ran over in the 33rd minute for the sides only score of the game.
The 2025 finalists proved too strong for the North Cork outfit as they crossed the whitewash a further three times to bring the final score to 5-45.
Colaiste Pobail Bheantrai will now face back-to-back champions, Sacred Heart Clonakilty, in the final later this month.
