Munster Schools Boys Junior Cup Roundup

The Munster Schools Boys Junior Cup continued this week as both the Quarter Final Eliminators and Semi Final Qualifiers played out.

Roundup all of the action below.

St. Munchin’s College 25 – 7 Rockwell College – Multiflow Park

The first Semi Final Qualifier kicked off in the home of St. Marys RFC, Multiflow Park, where Limerick side St. Muchin’s College recorded a comprehensive win over Tipperary natives Rockwell College.

St. Munchin’s were first to put their names on the score sheet having earned themselves a penalty on Rockwell’s 22-metre line after just eight minutes of play. Out-half, Jack Goode, stepped up to the tee and put the ball right between the posts.

The Limerick natives were in again as centre Cian Angley crashed over in the 18th minute. Goode was once again accurate off the tee as the touchline conversion sliced the uprights.

Rockwell showed some spells of prowess but come half time the score leant in Muchin’s favour as they led 10-0.

A second penalty early on in the second half for Munchin’s widened the gap between the sides even further.

In the 42nd minute of play Munchin’s winger Oscar Madden broke the line, picking up the speed as he charged down the field. Rockwell scrambled defensively only for the winger to send a last minute off-load to centre Dara Giltinane who touched down. Goode failed to make the conversion as the kick drifted just wide.

With the clock ticking towards the red Munchin’s Cian Angley ran in for his second try of the day with Goode adding the extras. With just two minutes left on the clock the score line stood at 25-0.

The final score of the game went to Rockwell College as Ethan Kendrick crossed the whitewash with captain Jack Landy adding the conversion as the game ended 25-7.
