Munster Clubs Age-Grade Cups Roundup

Action got underway last weekend in the Munster Clubs Age-Grade Cup competition as the Boys reached Quarter Final stages while in the Girls competition, Round One kicked off.

Roundup all the games from across the weekend below.

Munster Boys Clubs U18.5 Cup

In the Munster Clubs Boys U18.5 Cup the first Semi Final pairing has been confirmed as Crosshaven-Cork Constitution are lined up to face fellow Cork side Bandon in a fortnights time.

Crosshaven-Cork Con narrowly defeated Clonakilty 15-12 to book their Semi Final spot, while Bandon overcame Killarney 33-12 in their Quarter Final matchup.

In the second Quarter Final pairing, just ten points separated Highfield and Desmond Rugby at full time. Highfield now await the winners of Waterpark and Kinsale in the second Semi Final.

Munster Boys Clubs U16 Cup

Three out of the four Quarter Finals of the Munster Clubs Boys U16 Cup kicked off last weekend.

It was a North Cork v East Cork battle in the opening fixture as Kanturk locked horns with Midleton. After an end-to-end game the East Cork natives came out on top with a final score of 22-34.

Midleton will meet Waterpark Black in the first Semi Final after the Waterford side held Kinsale scoreless in their Quarter Final with the game ending 0-14.

Cobh Pirates have also booked their spot in the Semi Finals as they defeated Crosshaven-Cork Constitution 17-26. They will go on to face the winners of Ennis v Nenagh Ormond who will kick off this Sunday in the final Quarter Final pairing.

The first round of action in the Munster Clubs Girls Age-Grade Cups also kicked off over the weekend.

Munster Clubs Girls U18.5 Cup

In the Under 18.5 competition action got underway with Shannon taking on Waterpark in Coonagh, The Limerick natives came out on top on the day with a final score of 30-0.

In Virgin Media Park the amalgamated, Dolphin-Mallow, met Ennis. It was not to be for the Leesiders as they were defeated 7-37.

A total of ten tries were scored between the sides in the meeting of Garryowen and Tralee-Kanturk. It was the Limerick side that took the win as they out scored their Kerry/Cork rivals 45-17.

In the final game of the weekend Carrick-on-Suir-Clonmel-Youghal locked horns with Richmond-Scariff in Carrick-on-Suir with the game ending 29-45 in Richmond-Scariff’s favour.

Round Two will see Garryowen face Carrick-on-Suir-Clonmel-Youghal, Killarney-Iveragh-Killorglin-Listowel will take on Richmond-Scariff, Shannon will meet Dolphin-Mallow, Skibbereen-Bantry Bay will lock horns with Waterpark, Ennis will go to battle against Ballina-Killaloe and Ballincollig will go toe-to-toe with Bruff.

Munster Clubs Girls U16 Cup

Action in the U16 competition got underway last Friday as home side, Fethard and District, faced Ballincollig under lights in Fethard Town Park. The game finished 5-0 to the home side.

Dungarvan-Waterpark were defeated by Shannon in Waterpark on Saturday morning with a final score of 10-24.

Garryowen-Ballina-Killaloe saw off Dolphin in Virgin Media Park as they ran out 5-35 winners.

Ennis overcame Mallow with a score of 17-40 at full time in Mallow.

Kinsale-Muskerry were defeated by Richmond-Scariff in a game that ended 26-17, while it was an all Cork clash on Sunday as Cobh Pirates went down 37-7 against the strong outfit of Skibbereen-Bantry Bay.

Round Two will see the pairings of Ennis v Dungarvan-Waterpark, Garryowen-Ballina-Killaloe v Ballincollig, Bruff v Castleisland-Iveragh-Killarney-Killorglin, Clonakilty v Dolphin, Fethard and District v Kinsale-Muskerry, Skibbereen-Bantry Bay v Mallow and Shannon v Cobh Pirates.
