The knock out stages of the Munster Boys Schools Junior Cup get underway with a double header kicking off in Thomond Park as Crescent College Comprehensive meet Kinsale Community School and Castletroy College locks horns with Glenstal Abbey.
Crescent College Comprehensive v Kinsale Community School
Limerick side Crescent College Comprehensive will face newly qualified Kinsale Community School in the first of the Round One knock out games in the Munster Boys Schools Junior Cup in Thomond Park tomorrow afternoon.
Crescent finished Group A in fourth place with six points to their name from their three losses and one win.
The Limerick side got their group stage campaign underway with a solid 36-0 win over Glenstal Abbey.
They faced Cork’s Presentation Brothers College in their second game of the competition where they lost by the narrowest of margins with a final score of 17-10.
Next up was Bandon Grammar where the Limerick side went down 21-30.
Their final group stage game saw them face table toppers St. Munchins which finished 34-7 in Munchins favour.
Much like their senior counterparts Kinsale Community School made history by qualifying for the Junior Cup for the very first time.
The West Cork side received a bye through Round One before being awarded a walk over from Limerick’s Villiers School.
They met fellow Cork outfit Midleton CBS in Virgin Media Park in the qualifier final where they came away with narrow win as the game ended 10-12.
Castletroy College v Glenstal Abbey
Castletroy College will meet Glenstal Abbey in Thomond Park tomorrow afternoon in the second Round One knock out game of the Munster Boys Schools Junior Cup.
Castletroy College wrapped up their group stage campaign in last place in Group B.
They faced Christian Brothers College in their first game of the competition where they were defeated 40-19.
Next up was a clash with the Munster CSP team. Here they also lost 19-22.
A trip to the UL4G was next as they met fellow Limerick side Ardscoil Rís. After an end-to-end game it finished all square at five points a piece.
Their final group game saw them face Rockwell College with the Tipperary native running out as winners with a full time score of 7-12.
Similar to their rivals Castletroy, Glenstal Abbey also saw out the group stages in last place of Group A after four losses.
Their season kicked off with a 36-0 loss to Crescent College Comprehensive.
Next up was St. Munchins who came out on top with a score of 5-31.
They welcomed Bandon Grammar to Glenstal in their penultimate game of the group stage where the West Cork side ran out 19-32 winners.
While their final group stage game of the competition saw them make the trip to Cork to face Presentation Brothers College where they went down 40-18
