Munster Age-Grade Cups Launch Night

The Munster Clubs Age-Grade Cups launch took place in Virgin Media Park last night ahead of the the beginning of the knockout stages of the competitions.

The defending champions from last season’s U14, U16 and U18 competitions joined us on the night as well as Munster Branch Vice President Peter Silke, Munster Youths Committee Chairpersons Mike McInerney, and Munster Age-Grade Chairperson Wendy Keenan.

Action will get underway in the Muster Clubs Boys U18.5 Cup this Saturday as Cork’s Highfield welcomes Desmond Rugby to Woodleigh Park.

Highfield saw out the Group Stages in the top spot of Group One with 20 points from their fives win and one loss. Their opponents, Desmond Rugby, finished in second place in Group Three with twelve points as they lost three and won three games.

The second game of the day will see Waterpark go toe-to-toe with Kinsale.

Waterpark were the Group Two table toppers. They earned their 20 points from their five wins and one loss.

Kinsale’s group stage campaign saw them finish in second place in Group Four on 12 points from their three wins and two losses.

Sunday will see Crosshaven-Cork Constitution meet Clonakilty in their Quarter Final fixture in Crosshaven RFC.

The amalgamated Cork outfit came out of Group Three undefeated with a total of 24 points while opponents, Clonakilty, ended their time in Group One in second place with 16 points from four wins and two losses.

In the final pairing in the Munster Clubs Boys U18.5 Cup Quarter Finals, 2025 champions Bandon face Killarney.

Bandon come in to the fixture off the back of topping Group Four with six wins from six.

While Killarney finished in second in Group Two to earn their Quarter Final spot.

In the Muster Clubs Boys U16 Cup Crosshaven-Cork Constitution will face fellow Cork side Cobh Pirates in the first Quarter Final matchup of the weekend.

Crosshaven-Cork Con come into the tie as Group Four table toppers with 20 points to their name from their five wins and one loss.

While Cobh Pirates saw out Group Two in second place with four wins and two losses.

Kinsale will take on Waterpark Black in the second Quarter Final fixture.

The West Cork outfit earned their spot in the knock out stages by topping Group One with 20 points from their five wins and a loss.

Waterpark were also top spotters in their own right as they took first prize from Group Three with a total of 20 points.

The penultimate Quarter Final pairing sees Ennis meet Nenagh Ormond in Ennis.

Ennis saw out the group stages in second place in Group Three, level on points with table toppers Waterpark Black.

While Nenagh ended their group stage campaign also in second place with a final tally of 20 points from five wins and a loss.

In the final U16 Quarter Final match up Kanturk will take on Midleton in North Cork.

Kanturk topped the Group Two table, sending them straight into the knock outs, while Midleton saw out Group Four in second place with five wins and a loss to their name.

The Munster Clubs Girls Age-Grade Cups also kick off this weekend.

U18.5 action gets underway this Saturday as Shannon welcome Waterpark to Coonagh, Garryowen hosts Tralee-Kanturk, Skibbereen-Bantry Bay faces Ballina-Killaloe while Dolphin-Mallow takes on Ennis.

Sunday sees the meeting of Clonmel-Carrick-on-Suir and Richmond-Scariff, while in Cork, Ballincollig lock horns with Bruff.

In the U16 competition, the weekend will kick off with some Friday Night Lights action as Fethard and District take on Ballincollig in Fethard Town Park.

Saturday sees Dungarvan-Waterpark take on Shannon, Mallow go toe-to-toe with Ennis, Dolphin face Garryowen-Ballina-Killaloe and Richmond-Scariff play Kinsale-Muskerry.

The final two U16 Girls games of the weekend will kick off on Sunday as Bruff take on Castleisland-Iveragh-Killarney-Killorglin while West meets East as Skibbereen-Bantry bay faces Cobh Pirates in West Cork.
