St. Munchins will advance to the Semi-Finals of the Pinergy Munster Schools Boys Senior Cup after overcoming Crescent College Comprehensive in wet and windy conditions in Limerick’s Fitzgerald Park.

The game, that originally finished all square after 70 minutes of action in Thomond Park the week previous, went down to the wire with Munchins securing their spot by the narrowest of margins as it ended 14-10.

Crescent were first to get scores on the board as Harry O’Halloran touched down in the corner in the 23rd minute. Alan Cleary added the extras from his touchline conversion.

Munchins equalised on the stroke of half time as Conor Dillon barreled over with Oisin Madden converting.

Dan Foley was next to cross the whitewash for St Munchins with Oisin Madden adding the extras bringing the score to 14-7 with just 15 minutes left on the clock.

Crescent put in one final push in the closing stages and were awarded a penalty in front of the posts. Alan Cleary easily converted adding an additional three points to their tally.

But it wasn’t enough for the Dooradoyle residents as they were beaten 14-10 at full time.

St. Munchins will now advance to Semi-Final One and face the winners of the Quarter Final meeting between Bandon Grammar and Castletroy College.

While Crescent College will face last year’s champions Christian Brothers College in the first Quarter Final.

Kick off times and locations will be confirmed in due course.
