May Rugby Development Roundup

It has been another busy month for our Rugby Development Department as a number of blitz days took place across the province.

To kick off the month CCRO Nathan O’Meara was on hand in New Ormond park for a secondary school blitz with schools from the area taking part

There were three schools in attendance on the day from St. Joeseph’s CBS, Nenagh College and Borrisokane Community College with each school fielding teams at both U15 and U17 level.

Munster players Ruadhann Quinn and Gordon Wood also made an appearance on the day to meet the players and answer their burning questions.

Clarisford Park was the location for this month’s national school blitz.

There were four schools in attendance on the day from Ballina National School, Boher National School, Bridgetown National School and Killaloe Convent Primary School.

The nearly 100 strong 5th and 6th class students showed off their skills in a day of games and fun in the May sunshine.

This month also saw Virgin Media Park host an inclusion blitz run by Sundays Well.

This inclusion blitz was one of two held this season as the club aims to encourage young people of any ability to give rugby a try.

The players got to have a run out on the hallowed Virgin Media Park turf where they played a number of tag rugby games.
