State Of Play | Knock Out Pairings Announced For Munster Girls Age-Grade Leagues

This weekend sees the quarter finals of the Munster Girls Age-Grade League kick off.

Munster Girls U18.5 League

Shannon RFC v Dolphin Mallow

In the U18.5 age group Shannon get us underway as they face Dolphin-Mallow in Coonagh.

Shannon saw themselves into the knock out stages by topping Conference One with 20 points from five wins.

Their first win came against Bruff which finished 24-5.

Next up was a clash with fellow Limerick side Richmond-Scariff where they ran out winners with a final score of 31-10.

A trip to Ennis followed where they secured their third group stage victory as the game finished 17-36.

They faced Kilrush in their fourth game of Conference One where they came away winners with a score-line of 5-22.

Shannon’s final game of the group stage saw the side meet Garryowen which finished 44-14 in favour of the Coonagh natives.

Dolphin-Mallow finished third in Conference Three with three win and two losses earning them 12 points.

The Cork side got their campaign underway against Tralee where they ran our 49-19 winners.

Next up was a trip to West Cork where they suffered their first defeat against a strong Clonakilty side which finished 51-21.

Their second defeat was against Killarney-Iveragh-Killorglin-Listowel in Virgin Media Park which ended with a final score of 37-45.

The Cork side returned to winning ways as they held Skibbereen-Bantry Bay scoreless with a score-line of 0-30.

Their final game of the group stage saw them finish out strong as they defeated Ballincollig 5-39 in Tanner Park.

Killarney-Iveragh-Killorglin-Listowel v Richmond Scarriff

The second game of the day sees Killarney-Iveragh-Killorglin-Listowel face Richmond-Scarriff in Killarney.

The Kerry side topped the Conference Three table with the full quota of 20 points from their five wins.

The four club amalgamation got their league campaign underway against Ballincollig where they ran out 17-35 winners.

They welcomed West Cork outfit Skibbereen-Bantry Bay to Killarney where they earned their second successive win with a final score of 35-17.

Next up was a trip to Virgin Media Park where they defeated Dolphin-Mallow 37-45.

Fellow Kingdom natives, Tralee, conceded their fourth round clash against them.

Their final group stage clash saw them face current league titleholders, Clonakilty. After an end-to-end clash the Kerry side came out on top with a final score of 20-15.

Richmond-Scariff finished their group stage campaign in second place in Conference One, just four points behind table toppers Shannon, with a total of 16 points.

They kicked off their league campaign against Ennis where they secured their first win with a final score of 31-27.

A trip to Coonagh was the next game on the cards for the Limerick-Clare amalgamation where the home side ran out as winners as the game ended 31-10.

Richmond-Scariff returned to winning ways with a narrow 22-27 victory over Garryowen.

Round Four saw the side make the trip to Kilballyowen Park to face Bruff where they ran out with their third win of the campaign with a final score of 5-12.

Just a point separated the sides in their final group stage clash against Kilrush, which ended 20-19 in favour of Richmond-Scariff.

Waterpark v Garryowen

Waterpark will face Garryowen in the third Munster Girls Age-Grade League Quarter Final.

Waterpark topped Conference Two with a total of 20 points from five wins.

Their first win came against Fethard-Fermoy as they defeated them 30-0.

They welcomed Clonmel-Carrick-On-Suir to Ballinakill next where they ran out winners with a score of 52-19.

A trip to Clairsford was up next where they came away with a 0-34 win against Ballina-Killaloe.

Their penultimate game of the group stage saw the side face Kanturk. They once again came away with the win as the game finished 5-35.

A concession from Cork side Midleton-Youghal earned the Waterford natives their fifth and final group stage win, setting up their quarter final with Limerick side Garryowen.

Garryowen finished third in Conference One with 12 points from their three wins and two losses.

They got their league underway with a 45-15 win against Kilrush.

Next up was a trip to Kilballyowen Park where they held the home side, Bruff, scoreless as the game ended 0-26.

Round Three saw the Limerick side lose narrowly to Richmond-Scariff with a final score of 22-27.

Garryowen were back to winning ways come Round Four as they overcame Ennis 20-24.

Their final group stage clash saw them face a strong Shannon side in Coonagh. It was the home side that got the better of them on the day as the game ended 44-14.

Clonakilty v Clonmel-Carrick-On-Suir

The final Quarter Final pairing in the Munster Girls Age-Grade League sees Clonakilty take on Clonmel-Carrick-On-Suir.

Clonakilty wrapped up the group stages of the competition with four wins and a loss. This earned the side 15 points putting them in second place in Conference Three.

The sides title defence got off to a positive start as they defeated Skibbereen-Bantry Bay 37-7.

Dolphin-Mallow were next up for the West Cork outfit where they ran out 51-21 winners.

Both Tralee and Ballincollig conceded their third and fourth round games, giving Clonakilty four wins from four going into their final game.

A end-to-end game against Killarney-Iveragh-Killorglin-Listowel saw the side lose their first game of the competition with a final score of 20-15.

Clonmel-Carrick-On-Suir finished out their group stage games in third place with 12 points from three wins and two losses.

The side opened up their campaign with a narrow 26-39 loss to Kanturk.

A second defeat against Waterpark followed which ended 52-19.

The Tipp natives earned their first win of the campaign in Round Three as they defeated Fethard-Fermoy 19-46.

A concession from Midleton-Youghal in the fourth round gave Clonmel-Carrick-On-Suir their second win of the competition before going on to beat Ballina-Killaloe in the final group stage game with a score of 46-17.

Munster Girls U16 League

This weekend also sees the Quarter Finals of the Munster Girls U16 League kick off.

Clonakilty v Garryowen-Ballina-Killaloe 

Clonakilty will face the amalgamated Garryowen-Ballina-Killaloe in the first of the Munster Girls U16 League Quarter Finals.

Clonakilty, who topped Conference Three, got their Munster League campaign underway with a 24-12 win against Kinsale-Muskerry.

They overcame fellow West Cork outfit Skibbereen-Bantry Bay 10-22 in their second game of the group stages.

Round three saw them receive a concession from Tralee to take their tally to three wins in three games.

They earned their fourth straight victory against Ballincollig which finished 35-5.

Their final group stage game saw the West Cork side overcome Castleisland-Iveragh-Killarney-Killorglin with a final score of 37-14.

Garryowen-Ballina-Killaloe finished their group stage campaign in second place in Conference Two with four wins and a loss.

They kicked off their campaign with a 30-0 loss to table toppers Richmond-Scariff.

The Limerick-Clare side found their stride in Round Two as they defeated Shannon 19-14.

Round Three saw the side defeat Ennis by the narrowest of margins with a final score of 5-7.

Their winning ways continued into Round Four as they defeated Nenagh-UL Bohemian-Old Crescent 35-5.

Their final round game saw them hold Bruff scoreless with a final score of 14-0.

Fethard and District v Skibbereen-Bantry Bay

Fethard and District will face West Cork side Skibbereen-Bantry Bay in the second U16 Quarter Final of the weekend.

Fethard and District topped Conference One in the group stages of the competition after winning all five of their games.

The Tipperary natives got their campaign underway with a 35-5 win over Dungarvan-Waterpark.

Next up was a trip to Midleton where they once again ran out winners with a score of 0-30.

They welcomed Cork side Dolphin to Fethard Town Park for their Third Round clash where they came away with their third win of the campaign as the game ended 31-12.

Cashel conceded their fourth round clash against the fellow Tipp side bringing their total to four wins from four going into their final group stage game which saw them overcome Cobh Pirates 30-0.

Skibbereen-Bantry Bay finished their group stage games in third place in Conference Three.

They kicked off their campaign by holding Kerry outfit Tralee scoreless with a final score of 30-0.

Next up was a clash with fellow West Cork natives Clonakilty with the away side clinching the victory with a score-line of 10-22.

Round Three saw the side return to winning waves as they defeated Castleisland-Iveragh-Killarney-Killorglin 17-43.

The West Cork side recorded their second loss of the campaign as they were narrowly beaten by Kinsale-Muskerry which ended 24-22.

But once again they regained their stride going into Round Five as they overcame fellow Cork side Ballincollig 17-47.

Richmond-Scariff v Dungarvan-Waterpark

Richmond-Scariff v Dungarvan-Waterpark will play out the third quarter final this weekend when they meet in Canal Bank.

Richmond-Scariff topped Conference Two with five wins to their name and the full compliment of 20 points.

They kicked off their journey to knock out rugby with a 30-0 win over Garryowen-Ballina-Killaloe.

Next up was a trip to Rosbrien to face Nenagh-UL Bohemian-Old Crescent where they also came out on top with a score of 0-30.

Shannon was their next victim as they ran out winners once again with a full time score of 36-5.

Their penultimate game of the group stages saw them face Bruff in Kilballyowen Park where they came away with a yet another win with a final score of 5-12.

Rounding out the competition, the Limerick-Clare side faced Ennis in Scariff where they secured their fifth win in a row with a final score of 30-0.

Dungarvan-Waterpark finished out their group stage in third place in Conference One with three wins and two losses to their name.

The Waterford side recorded their first loss in their Round One fixture against Fethard and District which finished 35-5.

They welcomed Dolphin to Dungarvan next where the visitors ran out as winners with a score of 24-30.

A Cashel concession gave the side their first victory of the campaign.

Next up was a clash with East Cork outfit Cobh Pirates where the home side took the win with a score-line of 38-19.

A second conceded game of the competition came in Round Five as Midleton-Youghal awarded them the walk-over.

Dolphin v Kinsale-Muskerry

It will be an all Cork battle in the final U16 quarter final clash as Dolphin face off with Kinsale-Muskerry.

Dolphin finished out their group stage campaign in second place in Conference One.

The Cork City side earned 16 points from their four wins and a loss.

Their journey to knock out rugby began with a 22-38 win over fellow Cork side Cobh Pirates.

Next up was a trip to Dungarvan to face Dungarvan-Waterpark. The away side ran out as winners on the day with a final score of 24-30.

The Virgin Media Park natives suffered their first loss against Fethard and District with the game ending 31-12.

Their fourth and fifth round games were them conceded by both Midleton-Youghal and Cashel respectively.

Kinsale-Muskerry earned their spot in the league knock out places by finishing in second in Conference Three with 16 points.

The Cork side got proceedings underway with a 24-12 loss against Clonakilty.

This didn’t phase the side as they jumped right back into action and earned their first win of the campaign against Castleisland-Iveragh-Killarney-Killorglin which ended 12-31.

Round Three saw them face Ballincollig where they once again ran out winners with a final score of 22-17.

A meeting with fellow Cork side Skibbereen-Bantry Bay kicked off Round Four where they earned a narrow win as the game finished 24-22.

Their final group stage game was conceded by Tralee to bring their total of wins to four.

Munster Girls U16 League Quarter Finals
