Garryowen will face the 2024 winners of the Fraser McMullen Cup, Clontarf, in the opening round of the competition this Saturday in Dooradoyle (4:45pm).

The Limerick side earned their spot in the All Ireland competition by beating Nenagh Ormond 26-34 in the U21 Donal Walsh Trophy earlier this month in Thomond Park.

The Limerick outfit had a successful start to their Donal Walsh Trophy journey as they defeated fellow Limerick sides, UL Bohemian and Old Crescent, 43-14 and 43-13 respectively.

Next up was a trip to Cork City to face College side UCC where just three points separated the sides at the final whistle with the game ending 3-6 to the away side.

Another comprehensive win followed for the Dooradoyle natives as they defeated Young Munster 59-5 in Round Four.

Highfield then conceded their Round Five tie, which left them with five wins from five games at the half way point.

Next up was a trip to Tipp where the Limerick side once again ran out as winners with a 14-21 final score against Nenagh Ormond.

Shannon was the only team that could put a halt to their winnings way as they went down 17-12 in Coonagh.

But a return to form was imminent for Garryowen as they defeat Dolphin 28-47 in Virgin Media Park the following week.

They welcomed Cork Constitution to Dooradoyle next which they won comfortably with a final score of 43-15.

Their final round robin game saw them face Bruff in Kilballyowen Park where they walked away with a 14-50 win which placed them in second place in the table, just two points behind UCC, and set them up to take on Shannon in the semi final.

It was another tight contest with the Coonagh natives in the semi final but this time the results swung in favour on Garryowen as the tie finished 30-24.

The Dooradoyle natives lifted the title in Thomond Park the following week after defeating Nenagh Ormond 26-34 in Thomond Park.
