Club Notes | Dungarvan RFC To Host Taster Tag Rugby Inclusion Camp

Dungarvan Rugby Football Club is proud to launch their Taster Tag Rugby Inclusion Camp, a pioneering four-week programme designed to introduce children with additional needs to rugby in a fun, safe, and supportive environment.

While inclusion rugby has been steadily growing across Munster, particularly through established programmes and community led initiatives, Dungarvan’s camp offers something new: a short format, low pressure taster model. Unlike traditional multi-day camps, this format gives children and their families the chance to explore rugby gradually over four weekly sessions, building trust, confidence, and connection at their own pace.

At the heart of the programme is community. The camp is powered by a team of passionate volunteers from within the club, parents, youth players and coaches, making it a true whole club initiative. Sessions will be led by Conall Fitzpatrick of Munster Rugby, with support from Waterford Sports Partnership, ensuring each child is met with care and appropriate support throughout.

This initiative is proudly grounded in the IRFU’s Spirit of Rugby Charter, upholding the values of Respect, Integrity, Inclusivity, Fun, and Excellence. These principles are reflected in every part of the camp welcoming each child as they are, encouraging their growth, and celebrating every success, big or small.

The club is working closely with the IRFU’s Disability and Inclusion representatives to ensure the programme is built on solid foundations and is fully sustainable into the future.

Dungarvan RFC is honoured to be part of the movement toward greater inclusion in rugby and to be leading the way in West Waterford, one taster session at a time.

Sessions will kick off on the 30th of July and run every Wednesday for four weeks.

Ages 6-12 will train from 6pm until 6:40pm while 13-18 year olds will train from 6:45pm until 7:30pm.
