CBC Gain Revenge

CBC Gain Revenge

CBC claimed the McCarthy Cup B title as they defeated PBC to make amends for their A side’s defeat in last week’s McCarthy Cup Final.

CBC 12, PBC 5.
Great credit to both sides for playing this game in very blustery conditions at Wilton.

Christians had the Mardyke College camped deep in their own 22 for most of the opening quarter, but a combination of bad handling short of the line and infringements in set-pieces was proving to be costly.

The deadlock was broken three minutes before the interval when the ball was spread out to Louis Healy for a try behind the posts, following a ruck deep inside the Pres’ 22. Robbie Shalloe added the simple conversion.

Christians were back on the scoresheet midway through the second half when Robert Dillon barged over in the corner following a ruck inside the Pres’ 22 to stretch the margin to 12 points.

Pres’ to their credit had the Sydney Hill College pinned back for most of the final quarter and Declan O’Sullivan was credited with a pushover try from a driving maul two minutes from time.
