Cork Constitution have moved up to second place in Division 1A of the All-Ireland League as U.L. Bohemian and Thomond made it three wins from three.
Nenagh Ormond are still searching for their first points in the topflight, after they lost at home to Cork Constitution 25-17, but the Tipperary side will rue two missed penalty chances in the final minutes that could have earned them a losing bonus point at least.
Danny Sheahan scored two tries for Constitution and Jack Kelleher and Sean Condon got one each. Dylan Hicks kicked a conversion and a penalty. Sam Cusack and Angus Blackmore replied with tries for Nenagh and Conor McMahon converted both and, also added two penalties.
Young Munster suffered their third successive defeat, when they lost away to defending champions Clontarf 28-26. Trailing 21-0 at half time “The Cookies” rallied after the break with tries from Hubert Gilvarry, two from Shay McCarthy and another by Shane O’Leary. O’Leary kicked three conversions.
Garryowen put a halt to Instonians great run with a comprehensive 37-14 win at Dooradoyle in Division 1B. Alex Wood scored a hat trick of tries for the Light Blues and Fionn Rowsome and Des Fitzgerald also scored tries and Laughlan Stewart kicked two conversions and a penalty.
Highfield suffered their first defeat when they lost at home to City of Armagh 36-19. Jamie Shanahan scored two tries for Highfield and Noah Patterson got one. Shane O’Riordan kicked two conversions.
A last-minute penalty from Tim Larke earned Old Wesley a 31-29 win over U.C.C. at the Mardyke. Mark Hetherington, Stephen O’Shaughnessy, Gene O’Leary Kareem and Kamil Novak scored tries for the College and Charlie O’Shea kicked three conversions and a penalty.
Shannon recorded their first win of the campaign with a 37-31 home win against Banbridge in Division 2A. Matt Te Pou, Alex Long and Josh Costello scored tries for Shannon, who were also awarded a penalty try. Jamie Gavin kicked three conversions and three penalties.
Old Crescent suffered their first defeat of the campaign, as they lost at home to Greystones 37-32. Trailing 31-13 at half time, the home side’s second half fight back just fell short. Stephen Kiely scored three tries and John Lyons and Timmy Duggan got one each. Josh Cosgrove kicked a penalty and a conversion, and Jamie Duggan also added a conversion.
Cashel suffered a second defeat, when they lost at home to M.U. Barnhall 41-15. Rob Carney and Marcello Frati were the Cashel try scorers, and John O’Sullivan kicked a conversion and a penalty.
In Division 2B; U.L. Bohemian made it three wins from three with a hard earned 14-7 away wins at Buccaneers. Jordan Mills and Darren Ferrar scored tries for the “Robins” and Oisin Fagan converted both.
Thomond continued their great run with a third maximum point win at Liam Fitzgerald Park with a 54-32 victory against Dolphin in Division 2C. Evan Maher and Colin Slater each scored two tries for the home side, and Andrew Lyons, Luke Fitzgerald, Sam Birran and Jamie McGann got one each. Evan Cusack kicked seven conversions. Sam Boyle, Cameron O’Shaughnessy, Ryan Foley, Max Abbott and Craig O’Connell replied with tries for the Cork side. Hunter Yarrell kicked two conversions and a penalty.
Clonmel kept up their challenge for promotion with 39-14 home win against Malahide. Josef O’Connor scored two tries, three conversions and a penalty of Clonmel’s tally. Brandon Delicato also got two tries and Tom Ross and Jack Walsh got one each.
A last minute try from Johannes du Toit gave Midleton a 25-23 home win against Ballyclare. Conall Doyle and Evan Chester also scored tries for Midleton, who were also awarded a penalty try. Doyle also kicked a penalty.
Bruff came from 15-3 down to defeat Bective Rangers 25-15 at Kilballyowen Park. Shane Duggan, Andrew O’Byrne and Patricio Neheun were the Bruff try scorers, and Paul Collins kicked two conversions and two penalties.
