All Ireland League Roundup

With just two rounds of games remaining in the Energia Men’s All Ireland League, seven Munster sides are battling for play-off places, while U.L. Bohemian suffered their first defeat in the Women’s All Ireland League.
Cork Constitution defeated Nenagh Ormond 42-19 at Temple Hill but stay in fifth place on points difference in Division 1A. Adam Maher scored two tries for Con’ and Sean French, Peter Hyland, George Good and Aidan Moynihan got a try each, with Moynihan kicking six conversions. Davy Gleeson, Fionn O’Meara and Luke Kerr scored tries for Nenagh and Conor McMahon converted two of them.
Young Munster suffered a 50-33 defeat at home to Clontarf. Kelvin, Langan, Liam McMahon, Oisin Pepper, Stephen McLoughlin and Fionn Gibbons scored tries for Young Munster and Langan added four conversions.
Garryowen’s late run in Division 1B, sees them move up to fourth place after they defeated third placed Instonians 36-33 in Belfast. Max Clein and Sean Sexton each scored two tries for Garryowen and Thomas Ironside Wickham got one. Lachlan Stewart kicked four conversions and a penalty.
Highfield lost away to City of Armagh 25-12, after leading 12-7 at the interval with four penalties from Shane Buckley. They are two points of a play-off place ahead of games home to Blackrock and away to Queens,
A late converted try saw leaders Old Wesley defeat U.C.C. 40-35 at the Mardyke, leaving the Students in ninth place and possibly facing a relegation play-off. Jack Casey and David Novak each scored two tries for the home side and Gene O’Leary Kareem got one. Harry Murphy kicked five conversions.
Shannon moved into second place in Division 2A, after their 38-0 away win at Banbridge. Josh Costello, Luke Doyle, Neil Cronin, Cian McCann and two from Oisin Minogue were the Shannon try scorers, Cillian O’Connor kicked four conversions.
Cashel have a very outside chance of making the play-offs, but their 40-35 away win against leaders M.U. Barnhall has almost certainly avoided a relegation play-off battle. Marcel Strydon and Richie Moran each scored two tries, and Joe Lawrence and John O’Sullivan got one each. O’Sullivan kicked five conversions.
Despite their 13-10 away win at Greystones, Old Crescent look like they will be involved in a relegation play-off. John Toland scored Old Crescent’s try and Jeff Williams kicked a conversion and two penalties.
U.L. Bohemian defeated Buccaneers 70-22 to strengthen their chances of promotion via the play-offs in Division 2B. Oisin Fagan and Liam O’Sullivan each scored two tries for “The Robins”, and Padraig Galvin, Tom Cullen, Evan Lacey, Killian Dineen, Sean Quirke and Liam Neilan also scored tries. Cian Casey kicked ten conversions.
Clonmel continued to lead in Division 2C, after their hard fought 42-36 away win against bottom side Malahide. Henry Buttimer and Jack Walsh each scored two tries for the Tipperary side, Andrew Daly and Ben O’Dwyer got one each. Josef O’Connor converted all six tries.
Dolphin defeated Thomond 54-28 at Virgin Media Park to move into fourth place. Hunter Yarrell contributed two tries and seven conversions of Dolphin’s tally. Sam Boyle, Sean Sexton, Craig O’Connell, Finn Cowhig, Max Abbott and Richie Heaslip also scored tries for the home side. Sam Birrane replied with two tries for Thomond and Jason Kiely and Aaron Rice got one apiece. Evan Cusack kicked four conversions.
Bruff lost away to Bective Rangers 57-40. Nehuen Rossetti scored two tries for Bruff, Paul Collins, Shane Duggan, Clem McAuliffe and Cillian Rea got one each. Collins added five conversions.
A try in the sixth minute of added time, saw Midleton lose 27-22 away to Ballyclare. Joannes du Toit, Alejandro Matinez Jiménez and Andrew Beyrooti scored tries for Midleton and Seamus Lyne kicked two conversions and a penalty. Midleton are just two points above the relegation play-off places.
U.L. Bohemian lost 49-19 away to their arch rivals Railway Union in the Women’s All Ireland League. Clara O’Dwyer, Claie Bennett and Lily Brady scored tries for UL Bohs and Éabha Nic Dhonnacha kicked two conversions.
Ballincollig defeated Ennis 44-15 at Tanner Park. Awatere McLean Wanoa and Niamh Crotty each scored two tries for the home side, with Elle Courmane and Vivienne O’Donovan got one each. Emma Connolly kicked four conversions and two penalties. Aoibheann Hassey, Patricia Coote and Niamh McManus replied with tries for the Clare side.
