Cork Constitution and Young Munster strengthened their positions for a top four finish in Division 1A of the All Ireland League with impressive victories.

Cork Constitution defeated leaders Clontarf 27-24 at Castle Avenue to move up to third place in the table. Killian Coghlan, Sean Condon and Sean French were the Con’ try scorers and Dylan Hicks kicked three conversions and two penalties.

Young Munster scored twelve tries in their 82-21 home win over struggling UCD. Ruadán Quinn was their top try scorer with four tries, Jake O’Riordan and Shay McCarthy got two each and Andrew Smith, Shane O’Leary, Luke McCready and Liam McMahon got a try each. O’Leary converted eleven of the tries.

Nenagh Ormond suffered a 47-0 defeat away to Ballynahinch.

Highfield kept their promotion hopes alive from Division 1B with a 38-35 win over second placed Instonians at Woodleigh Park. Jamie Shanahan, Aidan Keane, Ryan Gordon, Travis Coomey and James Brugger scored tries for Highfield. Shane O Riordan kicked five conversions, and Shane Buckley added a penalty to claim the win.

Garryowen had an impressive 48-29 home win over promotion chasing City of Armagh. Sean Sexton scored three tries for the Light Blues, Max Clein two, Tom Ironside Wickham, Luca Cleary and Fionn Rowsome one apiece. Lachlan Stewart kicked four conversions.

U.C.C. recorded a 15-10 away win against Queens University to improve their position of avoiding relegation. Mark Hetherington and Sam O’Sullivan scored tries for the Cork University side, and Harry Murphy kicked a conversion and a penalty.

Shannon kept their play-off hopes alive in Division 2A, with a 30-10 home win against Greystones. Darren Gavin, Jordan Prenderville and Callum Black scored tries for Shannon. Jamie Gavin converted all three tries and also added three penalties.

Cashel’s 22-20 home defeat by Ballymena, sees them slip to just outside the relegation zone. Rob Carney, Paudi Leamy and Philly Ryan scored tries for Cashel. Ben Twomey kicked a conversion and John O’Sullivan a penalty.

Old Crescent are still in the relegation places, despite their 26-22 home win over bottom side Banbridge. Timmy Duggan, James Rael, John Moloney and John Toland scored tries for Crescent and John Hurley kicked three conversions.

Division 2B leaders Galwegians made it thirteen wins from thirteen after their 19-14 home win against U.L. Bohemian. The hosts led 13-0 at the interval, but this was the first time they failed to secure a four try bonus point this season. Oisin Fagan and Darren O’Gorman scored tries for Bohs, and Cian Casey converted them both.

In the top of the table clash in Division 2C, Clonmel have gone top, after beating leaders Thomond 29-19 at Liam Fitzgerald Park. Henry Buttimer scored two tries for Clonmel and Brandon Delicato and Tom Ross got one each. Josef O’Connor kicked three conversions and a penalty. Jamie McGarry, Luke Costello and Luke Fitzgerald replied with tries for Thomond and Evan Cusack converted two.

Bruff have moved up to fifth place, after a last-minute penalty from Paul Collins gave the Limerick side a 32-31 home win against bottom side Malahide. Fionn Flanagan, Jesse Bowring, Paul Collins and Mike Cooke score tries for Bruff and Collins kicked three conversions and two penalties.

Dolphin lost away to Bective Rangers 29-24, with Philip Elwood scoring two tries for Dolphin and Sam Boyle one. Daryl Foley converted all three tries and also added a penalty.

Midleton ended their recent bad run with an impressive 48-5 home win against Belfast Harlequins, a result that sees the Ulster side fall into the relegation places. Alejandro Martinez Jiménez score three tries for Midleton, Seamus Lyne scored two and Jack Colbert, Cillian Lynch and Sean Busteed got one each. Lyne kicked four conversions.

In The Women’s All Ireland League. U.L. Bohemian maintained their unbeaten run, with a 34-7 away win against Galwegians. Lucia Linn scored two of Bohs six tries, with skipper Chloe Pearse, Stephanie Nunan, Gráinne Burke and Clodagh O’Halloran getting one each. Éabha Nic Dhonnacha kicked two conversions.

Ennis made their first trip to Ulster a winning one with a 31-27 win against Cooke. Aoibhin Donnelly scored three tries for Ennis, and Aoibheann Hahessy and Alana Foudy got one each. Megan O’Connor kicked three conversions.

A try by Aoife Fleming converted by Fia Whelan was not enough for Ballincollig, who lost 55-7 at home to Old Belvedere.
