All Ireland League Roundup

Both Men’s and Women’s All Ireland League resumed after the holiday break with the reverse fixtures from the last round of games that included several derby matches.

In Division 1A of the Men’s League, Cork Constitution moved ahead of Lansdowne into fourth place, following their 26-7 home win against U.C.D. Michael Foy, Sean Condon, Danny Sheahan and Peter Hyland scored tries for Con’ and Dylan Hicks kicked three conversions.

A bright start for Nenagh Ormond was not enough to see them claim their first win of the campaign, as they suffered a 43-31 home defeat to Young Munster, but they did score four tries to get their first point. Willie Coffey scored two of their tries and Charlie O’Doherty and Kevin O’Flaherty got one each. O’Doherty converted all four tries and also added a penalty. Oran O’Reilly, Luke McCready, Ajae Hanson, Stephen McLoughlin, Oisin Pepper and Jake O’Riordan replied with tries for the Limerick side and Shane O’Leary kicked five conversions and a penalty.

Highfield moved into the play-off places in Division 1B, after their 15-10 away win at Dooradoyle against Garryowen. James Cronin and Nicholas Greene scored tries for Highfield and Shane O’Riordan added a conversion and a penalty. Luca Cleary replied with a try for Garryowen and Lachlann Stewart added a conversion and a penalty.

U.C.C. moved up to sixth place after their 41-28 home win against Naas. Jason Aherne scored two of College’s six tries, with Kamil Novak, Charlie O’Shea, and David Cogan also crossing the whitewash. They were also awarded a penalty try and O’Shea kicked three conversions and a penalty.

There were no changes to the top four places in Division 2A, with Shannon still in third place after their 21-10 away win against Old Crescent. Cian McCann and Darren Gavin scored tries for Shannon and Jamie Gavin kicked three penalties and a conversion. Oisin Toland and Stephen Kiely replied with tries for Old Crescent.

Cashel moved up a place despite their 25-24 defeat away to Wanderers. Marcel Strydom, Ryan O’Sullivan, David Upton and Joseph Lawrence were the Cashel try scorers and John O’Sullivan added two conversions.

Despite their 21-10 away win in Enniscorthy, U.L. Bohemian slipped down to third place in Division 2B. Paul Clancy, Padraic Galvin and Jordan Mills scored tries for U.L. Bohs and Cian Casey converted all three tries.

Thomond still remain top of Division 2C, after their narrow 22-20 home win against Bruff. Sam Birrane scored two tries for Thomond and Jamie McGarry got one, with Evan Cusack kicking two conversions and a penalty. Wiktor Wilczuk and Fionn Flannigan replied with tries for Bruff and John Bateman and Paul Collins each kicked a conversion and a penalty.

Clonmel remain in second place two points behind the leaders after their 24-20 home win against Bective Rangers, Tom Rose scored two tries for Clonmel, who were also awarded a penalty try. Josef O’Connor kicked two conversions and a penalty.

Dolphin suffered a 24-15 defeat away to bottom side Malahide. Cameron O’Shaughnessy and Richie Heaslip scored tries for Dolphin, Hunter Yarrell kicked a conversion, and Billy Kiernan added a penalty.

Midleton lost 33-5 away to Monkstown, with Dan Walsh scoring a try for Midleton.

In the Women’s All Ireland League, U.L. Bohemian still remain top of the table after their 36-0 home win against Ballincollig.  Claire Bennett and Chloe Pearse each scored two tries for the winners, and Clara Barrett and Ciara McLoughlin got a try each. Éabha Nic Dhonnacha kicked three conversions.

Tries from Caoilfhionn Conway Morrissey and Saher Hamdan were not enough for Ennis, who suffered a 29-12 away defeat to Old Belvedere. Megan O’Connor kicked one conversion.
