Report | Munster Secure Bonus Point Win Against Last Year’s Champions Leinster

Munster secure their first away win of the Interpro season as they ran in five tries to record a score 22-33 against last year’s champions Leinster.

Leinster were first to strike through Sevens international Vicky Elmes Kinlan in the 16th minute

But Chloe Pearse responded in the 18th minute with Caitríona Finn nailing the conversion into the Bective end.

Pearse drove over again for her second try of the afternoon just five minutes later with Finn adding the two.

Leinster were soon reduced to 14 in the 24th minute as hooker Lisa Callan was sent to the bin for multiple infringements.

Leinster brought the score-line back within touching distance through Kathy Baker with the conversion once again drifting wide.

Last week’s hattrick hero Chisom Ugwueru was next to snipe over as the clock hit 40.

Running into the sheds at half time Munster held the lead with a score line of 10-19.

Kate Flannery was first to get scores on the board in the second half as she ran in in the 41st minute. Caitriona Finn followed suit by putting the conversion right between the uprights.

Aoife Corey was next on the scoresheet as a she crashed over in the 51st minute. Finn added the extras.

A tap and go penalty sent Leinster captain Molly Boyne over in the 71st minute to bring the score to 17-33 in Munsters favour.

Leinster were in again in the 76th minute of the game through substitute Katie Whelan.

It was a flurry of action in the closing four minutes but Munster came away the winners with a score of 22-33.

Caitríona Finn was named your Vodafone Player Of The Match for the second week in a row.
