Ben O’Donovan Signs First Senior Contract

Munster Rugby are pleased to announce the promotion of Academy scrum-half Ben O’Donovan to the senior squad ahead of next season.
O’Donovan has extended until 2028 having initially joined the Munster Rugby Academy in February on an 18-month deal.
The 21-year-old is Irish-qualified and joined the Munster Rugby Academy from Canterbury having previously represented the New Zealand U20s in 2024.
O’Donovan was born in Dublin and was brought up in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Since joining the province, O’Donovan has made five appearances including a debut away to Exeter Chiefs in the Challenge Cup.
He becomes the fifth Academy player moving up to the senior squad next season, joining Max Clein, Seán Edogbo, Ronan Foxe and Ben O’Connor.
Michael Foy will move up from the Academy to the senior squad ahead of the 2027/28 season.
