Munster conceded just 27 tries in 17 Guinness PRO14 games this season and continued their good defensive record in the Rainbow Cup opener against Leinster, conceding just three points.

Preview

Munster face an Ulster side that will be eager to get back to winning ways at Thomond Park on Friday night having lost their competition opener against Connacht in Belfast last month.

The new law variations played a part as a successful Captain’s Challenge from Connacht earned them a late penalty that led to a last-minute match-winning try. See full details of the law variations here.

A second-half comeback from Leicester Tigers knocked Ulster out of the Challenge Cup at the semi-final stage on Friday night and Dan McFarland’s side travel to Limerick keen to revive their Rainbow Cup campaign.

There are set to be a number of changes to the Munster side for Friday night’s game but it will be important to maintain continuity as Johann van Graan’s side look to build on their good start to the new competition.
