Buttimer & Co Win Munster Rugby Golf Classic

E. Buttimer and Co, from Cahir in Co. Tipperary, were the winners of this year’s Munster Rugby Golf Classic.

Tramore Golf Club in Waterford was the venue for yesterday’s event with 30 teams taking part and while weather conditions were not ideal, the course played very well.

The winning team of Fergal Buttimer, Kieran McCarthy and Shane Callanan completed the course with 57 points, three points clear of the second placed outfit, Team Strand Hotel from Limerick, consisting of John Reilly, Richie Hickey and P. Clarke (below).

Winning teams were presented with their prizes at a drinks reception and dinner held in the clubhouse in the evening, with the prizes and reception kindly sponsored by Diageo.

A number of other prizes were also up for grabs as John Forristal (below) won the closest to the pin and Mark Dennehy had the longest drive on the 18th hole.

Prizes on the evening were presented by Munster Rugby President Gerry O’Shea, Robin Copeland and Sam Arnold.

The proceeds raised on the day will help fund the Munster Rugby Talent Camp which identifies Academy and Development squad players and prepares the players for the underage Interprovincial competitions.
