Participation Rugby Operations Officer – IRFU

The IRFU are inviting applications for the position of Participation Rugby Operations Officer. Reporting to the Participation Rugby Operations Manager and the Director of Rugby Development, the successful candidate will deliver and implement all operational plans with Host Venues of IRFU Tag and Touch programmes and to also include IRFU events and matches.

This position is being offered on a 15 month full time, fixed-term contract basis and is based in our Dublin office. PARTICIPATION RUGBY OPERATIONS OFFICER
 
ROLE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION
 
To deliver and implement all operational plans with Host Venues of IRFU Tag and Touch programmes and to also include IRFU events and matches
 
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
 
Operational:      IRFU Participation Rugby Operations Manager
 
Functional:        IRFU Rugby Growth & Participation Manager
                  IRFU Director of Rugby Development & Club Game
 
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

IRFU Referees Department
Provincial Referee Associations

KEY QUALITIES
 
Essential:               

  • Excellent organisational, administration, interpersonal, analytical, presentation, event management and teamwork skills. 
  • Previous experience of Tag Rugby and/or Touch Rugby refereeing
  • Working knowledge of Tag & Touch Rugby

 
Desirable:  

  • Recognised degree or Higher National Diploma. 
  • A minimum of 2 – 3 year experience in a rugby related environment.

 
RESPONSIBILITIES
 
General areas of responsibility include:
 

  • Co-ordinate the Delivery of operational plans with all IRFU Tag and IRFU Touch Host Venues
  • Liaise with Host Venue part time staff and volunteers to ensure IRFU Participation Rugby targets are agreed and delivered upon
  • Oversee “IRFU Tag” Staff & Referee Uniform collation and distribution
  • Oversee national recruitment and training of “IRFU Tag” Referees
  • Oversee national recruitment and training of “IRFU Touch” Referees in conjunction with IRFU partner – Irish Touch Association (ITA)
  • Oversee referee appointments at all “IRFU Tag” and “IRFU Touch” venues, in conjunction with appointed Venue Managers
  • Design and implement “IRFU Tag” and  “IRFU Touch” Code of Conduct and relevant disciplinary policy and procedures
  • Implementation and maintenance of “IRFU Tag” Playing Laws
  • Co-ordinate referees for “IRFU Tag” National Finals competition
  • Establish communication process with each of the IRFU affiliated provinces, particularly Regional Referee Development Officers regarding “IRFU Tag” activities and recruitment
  • To manage and implement procedures at IRFU events and Women’s Rugby World Cup
  • Adhoc duties as requested by your manager

  • Maintain effective relationships with various staff within the department and the IRFU.
  • Carry out duties and responsibilities to an effective and efficient standard
  • Establish efficient work practices.
  • Make effective and informed decisions in relation to the role and the department.

Portray a competent and professional image of the IRFU on behalf of the Participation Rugby department.
