Munster A/Development Squad To Face Ireland U20s

In naming a largely developing squad, Munster A Head Coach Mick O’Driscoll also calls on the experience of senior representatives Niall Scannell, Donnacha Ryan and Robin Copeland for tomorrow’s clash with Ireland U20s at Thomond Park, ko 5pm.

With the U20s representatives up against their age-grade counterparts, the squad includes eight of Munster’s 2015 Interprovincial winning U20s squad with Evan Mintern, Dan Walsh, John Foley, John Poland and Paul Kiernan starting, and Shane O'Hanlon, Barra O’Byrne and Tom McHale named in the replacements.

Walsh, Poland and Kiernan all lined out for the Ireland U20s in this year’s 6 Nations.

The Greencore Academy’s Liam O’Connor and Brian Scott join Niall Scannell – who captains the side – in the front row with Cork Constitution’s Evan Mintern partnering Donnacha Ryan in the second row.  Ryan has now completed his return to play protocols following a concussion sustained against Connacht.

Robin Copeland starts at 6 with Cork Con’s Dan Walsh and Shannon’s John Foley completing the back row at 7 and 8 respectively.

Con are again represented in the half backs where John Poland partners Garryowen out-half Jamie Gavin with UCC’s Paul Kiernan and Shannon’s Robbie Deegan taking charge in midfield.

The academy’s Steven McMahon and Con’s Aaron Spring are named on the wings with Dublin University’s Conor Kearns completing the starting XV at full back.

Munster A: Conor Kearns; Aaron Spring, Robbie Deegan, Paul Kiernan, Steven McMahon; Jamie Gavin, John Poland; Liam O’Connor, Niall Scannell Capt., Brian Scott; Evan Mintern, Donnacha Ryan; Robin Copeland, Dan Walsh, John Foley.
