Munster Supports #ISeeBeyond Campaign

Munster Rugby is delighted to join forces with Headway, one of our Nominated Charities for the current season, in supporting the #ISeeBeyond campaign.

People with hidden disabilities such as Acquired Brain Injury and Epilepsy are all saying the same thing… See Beyond!

While their disabilities may not be visible at a glance, they are real and can make life for people very difficult at times at home, at work or just out and about in their day to day lives. Headway and Epilepsy Ireland have come together to bring the discussion of Hidden Disabilities to the fore. Watch their stories here!

And it’s not just epilepsy and acquired brain injury. Conditions such as autism, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, asthma, migraine and many others can have a huge hidden impact for hundreds of thousands of people in Ireland.

They are asking you the public – individuals, businesses and charity organisations to show that you can See Beyond by visibly showing your support on social media and signing the pledge – #iseebeyondShow Your Support here!

But it doesn’t stop there…share your story!

They want people with hidden disabilities to highlight the challenges they face. Research shows that only 3 in 10 people would feel comfortable informing their employer that they have a hidden disability.

Let’s change that now! They want everyone in our busy world to stop and remember that while many of the individuals we engage with on a daily basis may seem ‘well’, they may actually have a hidden disability that they shouldn’t necessarily have to explain.

Please share your stories and explain how it is to live with an illness or disability that can’t easily be seen. Share Your Story.

Show your support on social media
You can also upload your personalised See Beyond icon and use it as your profile picture for the duration of the campaign, also using the tag #iseebeyond to show your support.

Who They Are
The See Beyond campaign is a joint initiative of Headway and Epilepsy Ireland, national charities working to support people with two common types of hidden disability, acquired brain injury and epilepsy. To help grow the See Beyond campaign, they want to hear from other non-profit organisations with an interest in improving understanding of hidden disability

The campaign is funded by the Department of Justice and Equality’s Disability Awareness Raising Grant Scheme.

Headway
Headway is a lifeline to people in the community across Ireland living with an acquired brain injury after a stroke, an accident or bleed in the brain. Originally founded in 1985 as a support group, we now provide a range of community-based rehabilitation services for people affected by brain injury, whatever the severity of injury all based on assessment of a person’s needs and their own goals for recovery. Our services include Rehabilitation Training Programmes, Community Re-integration, Psychological Support, a National Helpline and Supported Employment. And we don’t stop there. Our sevices now extend beyond the person with the brain injury, and include everyone affected including family members, carers, partners, and the wider circle of friends, employers and others.
