Castletroy College were up against Crescent College in Thomand Park on the 11th of February with a semi-final place in the Munster Schools Junior Cup at 5pm.

It was Crescent who got the first score in a competitive first-half with winger Ben Carew scoring in the corner in the 16th minute.

Castletroy replied eight minutes later with out-half Sean Madden scoring a penalty to leave the score 5-3.
Crescent finished the half well with centre Jamin Hoffman scoring their second try in the right corner. Half-time 10-3 to Crescent.

Castletroy started the second half well with a couple of dominant mauls but didn’t get any reward as Crescent defended well, both line-outs operated very well.

Crescent had most of the territory in the next twenty minutes but were also unable to score.

Cian McDonagh scored a vital try for Crescent with ten minutes to go and from there they kicked on with two more outstanding tries from Timothy Duggan and Ben Carew with John Hurley adding the extras.

Both teams played very well but the dominant Crescent backline was too strong for Castletroy. Crescent showed great hands throughout the match.

Crescent will now have a trip to Cork to play PBC while CBC will face Glenstal Abbey in the semi-finals.
