Ireland Wolfhounds Seven’s Squad Named

Four Munster players are included in the Ireland Wolfhound’s Seven’s squad to play in the first round of the GB 7’s in Edinburgh this weekend.

Senior player Luke O’Dea and Academy representatives Gearoid Lyons and Alex Wootton are joined by Young Munster club player Diarmuid McCarthy in the Irish squad. McCarthy has trained with the Munster senior squad in recent months and featured for Munster ‘A’ in their recent Series win over the Ulster Ravens.

The Ireland side will share pool B with Samurai, Forces Exiles and the Welsh Charitables in the one day event.

Speaking ahead of their departure, Anthony Eddy, IRFU Director of Rugby Sevens said, "The squad are looking forward to playing in their first tournament.”

"As a group they have prepared and gelled well, individually they have all put in a huge amount of work. The skill level, attitude and performances of the players and of the team as a whole have been very impressive.”
