Munster number 8 CJ Stander gave his thoughts after the Munster’s 42-20 win.

“It was a tough physical game right from the start and Connacht always bring the best out of us. It was great that we could pull away after such a tough opening and get the bonus point win which is crucial for the next few weeks.

“There’s still a lot to work on. We pride ourselves on our defence so it was disappointing to give away two tries.”

The game saw the South African powerhouse pick up his fifth man of the match accolade of the season.

“It took me a while to get back into form after injury (sustained against Saracens in January) so hopefully now I can keep that form. The team are playing well and it’s great to have the internationals back and when Paulie, Peter and Conor return, that will make us even stronger.

“In some ways it’s disappointing not to have a game next week – to keep the momentum going, but the break has its advantages too. Now the focus is on Edinburgh in a couple of weeks and we need to put right a bad loss against them at the start of the season.
