‘The Singing Barman’ Set For Thomond

This Saturday’s clash with Connacht at Thomond Park will see Munster fan and overnight viral sensation John Horgan perform his version of Jimmy McCarthy’s ‘Bright Blue Rose’ prior to kick-off.

A recording of John singing the song while pulling pints at the Crossroads Bar in Knockavilla, Co. Cork has catapulted him into the limelight after it proved a hit online.

A whirlwind few weeks for the Corkman has seen him amass over 600,000 views on Facebook and a further 80,000 view on YouTube.

Off the back of this success, John has professionally recorded and released his take on the Irish classic with €;1 of the proceeds from every single being donated to the Cork branch of the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind.

As is evident from John’s attire and pub décor in the original video, he is a proud Munster fan and this coupled with the club’s close association with the Irish Guide Dogs over the years has seen him invited to perform pre-match at this Saturday’s interprovincial.

Late last week, Munster centre Cian Bohane made the journey to Knockavilla to surprise John with the offer of performing in front of the Thomond Park faithful.

John’s version of the ‘Bright Blue Rose’ is on sale at the Crossroads Bar for €;5, while you can also buy the track on CD or MP3 download by clicking here.
