In Pics: Preparations For Leinster

See the shots from yesterday’s training session at UL and get the thoughts of Head Coach Anthony Foley as Munster prepare to host Leinster in round 11 of the Guinness PRO12 on St Stephens Day.

Looking ahead to Leinster at yesterday’s post-training press conference, Foley began by addressing the wrongs Munster will hope to right on Friday night.

“We’re not good losers and it’s not a standard that we want to be identified with. Last weekend, the frustration of being in such a good position against Glasgow – who are very good at home anyway – and then not to finish it off was very frustrating. Frustrating is the word I’ve been using all week because we didn’t register anything on the scoreboard in the second half despite having plenty opportunities to do it. We didn’t build any platform in their 22 like we did in the first half and that allowed them to build momentum. In fairness to the crowd in Scotstoun, they got right in behind their side once the momentum shifted and we didn’t deal with it.”

Foley and his charges will still relish the opportunity of a return to winning ways against their interprovincial rivals on home soil.

Leinster has always been a massively physical game and it’s a game that as a player, coach or supporter you look forward to massively. Over Christmas you get a good crowd and atmosphere in Thomond Park and you go out to try and play your best.

“At this stage after losing the last three games, we just want to get to a place where we can win a game. There’s a lot of hard work, we’re not working any differently from what we would have done during the weeks that we’ve won. It’s just that sometimes these games change on fine margins and with that you might find us questioning ourselves, looking around, looking for answers. The answers are sometimes quite simple in that things didn’t go your way. We haven’t become a bad side overnight and we need to keep believing in what we’re doing and hopefully we’ll see the fruits of that on St. Stephens Day.”
