Nottingham Travel To Temple Hill

Munster A return to British & Irish Cup action this weekend and welcome Nottingham to Temple Hill, Cork for Round 4 of the competition on Saturday afternoon – KO 3pm.

Two wins from three in the competition to date sees Munster A lie second in Pool 3 on nine points, four points behind Worcester Warriors whom they face the following Friday at CIT.

Nottingham will pose a serious threat for Mick O’Driscoll’s men this weekend as they look to right the wrongs of previous rounds – a 12-23 home loss to Munster A in Round 3 at Meadow Lane made it three straight defeats for the Green & Whites in this season’s campaign and they currently prop up Pool 3.

In concerted effort to bring Munster Rugby to all parts of the province, each season B&I Cup fixtures are played at various clubs and venues across the six counties and this Saturday sees Cork Constitution's home ground of Temple Hill play host to Munster A for the second time in the B&I Cup, having previously done so when the province defeated Plymouth Albion 15-0 in the 2012/13 competition.

Munster A Head Coach and former Con player Mick O’Driscoll looks ahead to this weekend’s clash.

“There will be some senior players involved this weekend – guys who need game time, especially coming into the run of games that we have ahead of us now. We’ll also have plenty of young Academy guys available this weekend and that will help with our development focus for these guys.

“We’re relatively happy with our progress in the competition to date. Given the involvement of some of our guys at different levels of rugby, it’s often difficult to find consistency in selection and that makes it tough when you come up against teams that play together week in week out.

“Nottingham are a very experienced side and they have a nice mix of youth and more experienced players. However they are more of ‘a team’ than us in that they’ll be used to playing together week in week out.

“We’ll have guys coming in from playing AIL, U20 and right up to Senior rugby and that mix can be difficult to gel together at times. That said, the guys playing this weekend have been involved in Munster A training so there will be no excuses from us.”
