Cork To Stage B&I Cup Rounds 4 & 5

Munster A return to British & Irish Cup action in just over two weeks, with Mick O’Driscoll’s charges set to play two consecutive games in Cork in as many weeks – at Temple Hill and CIT.

In concerted effort to bring Munster Rugby to all parts of the province, each season B&I Cup fixtures are played at various clubs and venues across the six counties with the likes of Bandon RFC, Tralee RFC and the Waterford Regional Sports Centre (RSC) all hosting B&I Cup action in recent seasons.

Following this season’s campaign opener at Clonmel RFC, Munster A head to Leeside for their next two home encounters – against Nottingham at Temple Hill on Saturday November 29th, and against Worcester Warriors at CIT on Friday December 5th.

Cork Constitution’s home ground of Temple Hill will play host to Munster A for the second time in the B&I Cup, having previously done so when the province defeated Plymouth Albion 15-0 in the 2012/13 competition, while the CIT Sports Stadium will host its first B&I Cup fixture six days later.

This season has seen Mick O’Driscoll and his coaching ticket of Greig Oliver and Doug Howlett combine senior experience from the likes of Donncha O’Callaghan, Paddy Butler and Ronan O’Mahony with a wealth of emerging talent from the Greencore Munster Academy including Jack O’Donoghue (Munster A captain), Rory Scannell and Sean McCarthy.

With two wins from three in the campaign to date, Munster A currently lie second in Pool 3. After a hard fought win over Moseley at Clonmel RFC, Micko’s men we’re unlucky to lose in the final play of the game away to Worcester. However, they bounced back well to take victory on the road against Nottingham less than a week later.

No doubt Nottingham will look to avenge that defeat and get their first victory of this season’s B&I Cup when they travel to Temple Hill in just over two weeks, while the following Friday, two past Munster representatives – former Academy player Darren O’Shea and former senior out half/full-back Paul Warwick – will look to make it back to back pool wins over the province when Worcester face Munster A at CIT. Warwick is now part of the backroom team for the English outfit.

Munster A v Nottingham, Temple Hill on Saturday November 29th – KO 3pm.

Munster A v Worcester Warriors, CIT Sports Stadium on Friday December 5th – KO 7:30pm

Tickets can be purchased online here while entry is free for all MRSC members and Ten Year Ticket holders (on production of your membership card or ticket book).
