Munster In The Community

Munster’s Barry O’Mahony and Paddy Butler lend their support to Siobhan Mungovan on the launch of her book – "My Journey with Spina Bifida: Me and My Backbone."

The book is the coming-of-age story of Siobhán Mungovan, a tenacious country girl from Clare whose motto in life is “Keep Smiling Always”. The book is written with Clare-based, award-winning, journalist Carol Byrne.

Through her comedic turn of phrase, we learn it is not all that different to anybody else’s life. What is different is Siobhán’s unique ability to grab life with both hands and live in the moment. This outlook on life has helped her achieve things that seemed impossible to many. She has truly broken the stereotype.

Following on from last season’s charity partnership between Munster Rugby and the Mid West Spina Bifida Association, Munster’s Barry O’Mahony and Paddy Butler called in to pledge their support to Siobháin and Carol at last Friday's launch in Ennis. The publication is currently available to purchase online at bookhub4u.ie and in local and regional bookstores.

The Mid West Spina Bifida Association was one of Munster Rugby’s nominated charities for the 2013/14 season and is a voluntary organisation run by parents and friends of people in County Limerick, Clare, and northern Tipperary who live with Spina Bifida.
