Scarlets Return To Thomond

Check out the stats ahead of Munster’s return to Thomond Park this Friday night – against Scarlets in Round 6 of the Guinness PRO12.

The largest league crowd of the season so far packed into the AVIVA Stadium in Dublin to watch Munster claim their first Guinness PRO12 victory over Leinster at the venue. The game also marked Denis Hurley’s 100th appearance in the tournament.

Thanks to the win in Dublin, Munster find themselves in the Play-Off zone for the first time this season, and will want to consolidate fourth place with a victory over Scarlets.

Anthony Foley’s men know they face another big challenge this weekend if that is to happen.

In the last six encounters between the sides, Scarlets have taken the spoils three times, Munster twice, with one draw played out at Parc y Scarlets in April 2012. Each side won its respective home game when the two teams met in the PRO12 last season.

Munster’s only defeat in their last four Guinness PRO12 encounters was at home to Ospreys in Round 4, however Scarlets have suffered just one defeat in their last seven PRO12 matches.

While Scarlets have a better attacking record so far this season – scoring 17 tries as opposed to 13 for Munster, the province holds the better defensive record – 6 tries conceded as against 13 for Scarlets. In fact, only Ospreys (4 tries conceded) hold a better defensive record than Munster in the 2014/15 league to date.

It all makes for an intriguing clash so don’t miss your opportunity to be there as Munster look to build on the momentum from last weekend’s interprovincial win.

The night will also play host to the official opening of Thomond Park’s New Fan Zone Plaza with Hermitage Green performing live from 5:30pm. Read more here.

Munster v Scarlets, Guinness PRO12 Round 6, Friday October 10th at Thomond Park. KO 19:35.
