Vacancy: IRFU Performance Analyst (Part-Time)

This exciting role involves a scholarship to attend the inaugural class of I.T. Carlow’s MSc. in Sports Performance Analysis while gaining valuable experience with the National Governing Body for rugby union in Ireland.

Reporting to and working alongside the IRFU’s High Performance Analyst, the candidate will assist the IRFU’s High Performance Department while developing an in-depth knowledge of rugby union performance analysis. The candidate will also be aligned to specific IRFU representative teams.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have:
Essential

  • Level 8 Degree (minimum 2nd class Honours) in:
  • BA Sports Management & Coaching
  • BSc in Sport Science
  • or cognate qualifications
  • Applicants applying for entry through progression routes other than those listed above will be considered through IT Carlow’s Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Policy.
  • Excellent attention to detail and be highly organised
  • Have the ability to work in a highly pressurised environment

Desirable

  • Experience working within a High Performance environment
  • Previous experience using performance analysis software
  • Knowledge of audio visual equipment
  • A basic understanding of data analysis techniques


The Opportunity

This position is being offered on a 2 year fixed term, part-time basis from September 2014. In addition to basic salary, the IRFU will make a contribution towards travel expenses to and from IT Carlow, and pay (in full) for tuition fees for the MSc. in Sports Performance Analysis.

Please note all applicants must

  • Be in a position to start the MSc. course in September 2014;
  • Meet IT Carlow’s criteria for qualification to the above course;
  • Commit to completing the two-year MSc. in Sports Performance Analysis;
  • Be an EU citizen or hold a valid/current work permit for the EU;
  • Have completed (and graduated with) a Level 8 Honours Degree from a recognised educational institution.
