Squad Update: Pre-Season Week 6
8th August 2014 By Munster Rugby

Both Cork and Limerick based players gathered in UL this morning for training and the annual squad photo as Week 6 of pre-season drew to a close.
New signing Andrew Smith was present for the squad photo and later spectated at training following his arrival from Australia yesterday, while senior players involved with the Munster 7s team – Gerhard van den Heever, Ronan O’Mahony, Luke O’Dea, Cian Bohane and Shane Buckley – followed a separate training schedule ahead of the Limerick World Club 7s in Thomond Park this weekend.
On the injury front Duncan Casey is going well as he continues to rehab post-surgery (shoulder), while squad captain Peter O’Mahony has now returned to field sessions following surgery on both shoulders in April.
Speaking to media this week, O’Mahony said that he is hoping for an October return to action.
Back-row Dave O’Callaghan continues to increase the intensity while rehabbing his right knee injury, with Mike Sherry continuing to integrate back into training.
Good news for Donnacha Ryan who has returned to running, while Damien Varley’s workload continues to be monitored following on from last season’s foot injury.
Bad news for Niall Sacnnell however, the hooker picking up a fractured wrist during pre-season and will be out for 6 weeks.
