Squad Update – Pre-Season Week 3

Following the return of Internationals from Ireland’s Summer Tour to Argentina, the Munster squad gathered for training in CIT today as Week 3 of pre-season continues.

Irish captain Paul O’Connell, Simon Zebo, Conor Murray, Felix Jones, Damien Varley, Dave Kilcoyne and the newly capped James Cronin all returned to the province yesterday and will follow modified pre-season programmes as they catch up with those now into their third week of training.

Next Monday will see the full complement of players back in the fold when Munster’s 11 representatives on the Nations Cup winning Emerging Ireland team return.

Having already spent the last two weeks with the Senior squad, a number of Academy players including Darren Sweetnam, Jamie Glynn, Ryan Murphy, John Madigan, Niall Horan, Sean McCarthy, David Johnston and sub-Academy player Diarmaid Dee continue to train with Senior players this week.

Having completed a degree in physiotherapy at the University of Limerick, former Munster winger Ian Dowling attended today’s session in Cork and will also travel to the Munster Rugby Talent Camps in Rockwell this week. The Kilkenny native is shadowing Munster Rugby Physiotherapist Colm Coakley and other members of the backroom staff.

In just over 6 weeks Munster are away to Gloucester in pre-season action on Saturday August 23^rd, with their first home game against London Irish at the Waterford RSC on Friday August 29^th, KO 7:30pm. Tickets for the SEAT Challenge v London Irish can be purchased online by clicking here.
