Munster Development Squad Named

Irish U20s and Greencore Munster academy back-row Jack O’Donoghue will captain tonight’s Munster Development XV against Enisei-STM at Musgrave Park at 7pm tonight.

The squad, coached by Elite Player Development officers Greig Oliver and Colm McMahon, includes a number of academy, sub-academy and club players.

Joining O’Donoghue in the starting XV is fellow Irish U20s player Dan Goggin (Young Munster) who starts at outside centre with academy players Alex Wootton, Niall Kenneally, Darren Moroney and last year’s Munster U19s captain Steve McMahon (Garryowen) all named in the backline.

The half-back pairing sees UCD’s Jamie Glynn and Lansdowne’s Tom Kiersey both start. Glynn made his Munster A debut in February when coming on as a replacement against Connacht Eagles.

The front row have all played at Munster A level this season and includes academy prop Niall Horan, UL Bohemians hooker Kevin O’Byrne and dual status player Mike Lynch of St.Senans/UL Bohs.

Academy lock Sean McCarthy, who made his B&I Cup debut last Friday against Leinster, joins Cork Con’s Joe McSweeney in the second row while sub-academy player Diarmuid Dee (Young Munster) starts at blindside with academy players Ryan Murphy and Captain O’Donoghue completing the back-row.

The extended bench includes academy players John Madigan, Shane Buckley, Brian Haugh, Harry McNulty and Greg O’Shea.

Harry McNulty’s brother Sean (UCD) is named as replacement hooker while Aidan Butler, brother of Paddy, is named as back-row cover.
