Irish Derby In Quarters Of B&I Cup

Munster A have been drawn to face Leinster A away in the quarter-finals of the B&I Cup on the weekend of 4/5/6 April.

Munster A secured qualification to the last eight with a win over Stirling County earlier this month as they finished second in Pool 4. Head Coach Peter Malone was delighted to be paired with the only other Irish side left in the competition.

"It's a big opportunity, there's a great history at all levels betwen Leinster and Munster but at A level we've played each other in the semi-final in the last two years and it's one-all.

"Leinster are one of the leading teams in the competition so we're really looking forward to it," he added.

Leinster A topped their pool with six wins out of six and will be looking for a repeat of last season’s 17-15 defeat of Munster A in the semi-final of the competition.

"I haven't seen them this year but I'm sure they'll have a style similar to the senior team," said Malone.

"We'll try to get a video or two of them to watch before we play them but we know how to expect Leinster to play. They're physical, they work hard at the breakdown and we've got to match that and really be up for it," he added.
