Thomond Park To Host Munster Senior Cup Final

The ODM Financial Munster Senior Cup final between Garryowen and Cork Con will take place at Thomond Park on Friday 20th December (ko 7:30pm).

Both sides progressed to the final earlier this month with Cork Con beating UCC 21-11 at the Mardyke thanks to 16 points from Munster academy player Johnny Holland.

Garryowen beat Shannon 20-17 in their semi-final at Thomond Park with fly half Jamie Gavin contributing 15 points to seal their passage to the final.

Title holders Cork Constitution who have 24 Munster Senior Cup wins to their tally, last season went on to win the All Ireland Bateman Cup where they defeated St. Mary’s College at Timpleville Road.

Garryowen last won the cup in 2012 and that year also went on to claim the All Ireland Bateman Cup. The Dooradoyle side have won 38 titles in total and lead the way with most cup wins since the competition began in 1886.
