Concussion & Scrum Information Seminar At UCC

Munster Rugby Coach Development Department hosted a concussion and scrum information evening, yesterday Monday 25th November in UCC, Cork.

The evening was held in conjunction with the IRFU and presented by Dr. Garrett Coughlan, Medical Coordinator of the IRFU Medical Department.

This was the first of four information evenings taking place throughout the province to inform coaches and officers involved in the game about concussion recognition and management, as well as return to play policies following injuries resulting in concussion.

Munster Rugby are also delivering presentations on the scrum hosted former Munster and Ireland prop Marcus Horan and AIL coach Conor Twomey based on their learnings from the recent IRFU Scrum Development workshops.

A large emphasis is being placed on developing a scrum culture within the province through technical development with a primary focus on injury prevention.

The next seminars take place as follows:

27th November – Tralee IT, Kerry at 7pm
2nd December – Garryowen FC, Limerick at 7pm
4th December – Clonmel RFC, Tipperary at 7pm
