Women’s Weekend Preview

The women’s Division 1 All Ireland League continues this week-end with all three Munster clubs in action.

League holders UL Bohemian host Munster and Ireland Cup holders Highfield at Annacotty, kicking off at 1pm. Both sides are currently placed in 3rd and 4th position in the table behind Dublin sides Old Belvedere and Blackrock.

Bohs will be hoping to claim a win off the back of their 29-24 loss to Blackrock in last week’s fixture at Stradbrook while Highfield will be looking for their third successive victory following recent wins over St. Mary’s and Tralee.

In Division 2 Fermoy will make a trip to New Ross in their third game of the competition while a Limerick derby is on the cards with Young Munster set to take on old rivals Shannon at Clifford Park.

The Munster Development League also kicks off this week-end which sees a new league format. Teams will be split into two sections – Group A and Group B. Group A sees Cobh v Clonmel, Thurles v Dungarvan and Waterford City v St. Senans. In Group B St Mary’s will play Abbeyfeale, Bruff will take on newcomers Cashel and Bandon will host Youghal.
