Nominated Charities Announced For Season 2013/14

Munster Rugby are delighted to announce our two nominated charities for the 2013/14 season, the Cork University Hospital Charity and the Mid-West Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus Association.

This is the fourth season that Munster have officially linked with charities in the Munster region, and throughout the season Munster will work closely with each of the nominated charities, providing them with active support on specific projects as well as helping to raise awareness and funds.

Munster Rugby’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme was initiated in 2010 in order to formalise Munster’s involvement with charities each season.

In past seasons, Munster have undertaken initiatives such as having a designated “Charity Match” with match day initiatives aimed at fundraising for the charities, hosting the charities at matches during the year, and involving the players in various awareness campaigns for the charities.

Commenting on the announcement Claire Cooke, Munster Rugby CSR Project Manager said “Supporting the work of local charities has become an integral part of Munster Rugby’s Corporate Social Responsibility Programme. We are delighted to support the Cork University Hospital Charity and the Mid-West Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus Association on specific projects and look forward to working closely with them for the season.”

Lynn Buffington of the Mid-West Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus Association said “We are honoured to be selected by Munster Rugby as one of their nominated charities for the season and want to extend a huge thanks to them and to the supporters, for helping us to level the playing field and give everyone, regardless of ability, a sporting chance”.

Prof. Michael Molloy of Cork University Hospital Charity believes this is a huge positive in highlighting their work, saying “We would like to thank Munster Rugby for nominating Cork University Hospital as one of its chosen charities for the season. We very much look forward to working with them in the coming months.”
