Getting to know the Academy

Munster View Exclusive – It’s the start of a new season for the Munster Rugby academy, meet the manager and players here.

The Munster Rugby Academy department recently held an induction day for all academy players in the University of Limerick.  Academy manager Ian Sherwin and staff wanted to bring the returning players together before training commenced with the senior squad.

The Academy department includes manager Ian Sherwin, Elite Development officers Ray Egan and Ken O’Connell, and Strength and Conditioning coaches Feargal O’Callaghan and Paudie Roche.  This year the academy will now also benefit from two appointed physiotherapists on a part-time basis, Brian Fox in Cork and Damien Mordan in Limerick.

The Munster Rugby academy is heavily reliant on the significant funding received from the Munster Rugby Supporters Club and with same they are able to cater for the academy players needs, and implement a fully resourced academy programme each season.

Find out more about the academy as we catch up with manager Ian Sherwin and the academy players here.  (Peter O’Mahony was not present on the day of filming due to injury) This video is brought to you by the students of LIT.
