Lions v Southern Kings

Ugo Moyne who is vying for a Test place with Luke Fitzgerald and Robert Kearney has been drafted into the Lions side for the game later today against the Souther Kings in Port Elizabeth

Moyne comes into the side for Shane Williams who is suffering from a stomach bug. The Welsh wing didn’t travel with the rest of the squad yesterday to Port Elizabeth but will present himself there today and if he doesn’t pass muster then Tommy Bowe will sit on the bench in his place.

The object of today’s exercise is to gain a victory to maintain the momentum and to ensure that those involved in next weekend’s Test come through unscathed.

Winning shouldn’t be much of a problem against an invitational side coached by Alan Solomons that includes Harlequins centre De Wet Barry, Leicester Tigers lock Marco Wentzel and Bristol wing Matt Turner with former Springbok outside half Jaco van der Westhuyzen partnering Bulls scrum half Francois Hougaard.

McGeechan and Co will be hoping the Lions can get the job done without having to involve the replacements six of whom will be in contention for a place in the Test 22.
