Munster Maintain Their Momentum

Munster marked their return to Thomond Park with a hard earned 25-17 victory over Glasgow Warriors.

Conditions for both sides were made difficult by incessant rain but Munster got off to the ideal start with a try from Peter Stringer after just two minutes. Ronan O’Gara converted and added a penalty for 10-6 intervallead, Colin Gregor kicking two penalties for the visitors.

O’Gara extended the lead with a 49th minute penalty and then Rua Tipoki threaded a lovely ball through for Barry Murphy to run onto gather and score wide on the left. O’Gara drew the difficult conversion across the posts and Gregor landed two more penalties to keep Glasgow very much in contention.

A 69th minute try from Doug Howlett converted by O’Gara put the result beyond doubt but Glasgow had the last say when replaceement Hefin O’Hare made the best of a two on one to score in the dying minutes of the game.
