Cork Constitution Begin Defence of AIB Cup

Fresh from their ODM Munster Senior Challenge Cup semi final win last weekend, Cork Constitution begin their campaign on Saturday to retain the AIB All Ireland Cup which they secured in the inaugural competition last season.

Cork Constitution have established a tradition for claiming historic titles- not only having won the AIB Cup title last April, they also won the very first AIB All Ireland League in 1991.  Constitution claimed last year’s title in style, with a 37-12 win over St. Mary’s College in Lansdowne Road.

First up for the title holders are Lansdowne, which they entertain at Temple Hill on Saturday (kick off 2.30pm) in the only preliminary game of the competition.  The first round kicks off over the weekend of January 12th and 13th.

Joining Constitution in the AIB Cup this season are four other Munster clubs, who qualified having come through the second round of the ODM Munster Senior Challenge Cup.  Garryowen will host Buccaneers, Shannon host Clontarf, Nenagh Ormond travel to Belfast Harlequins and Clonakilty host Greystones in Round One weekending January 12th/13th
